Local household auction - held weekly near us. Usually a lot of total junk but there is the occasional gem! I also got a table soccer game for the grandson - a full size Subuteo in new condition for next to nothing a couple of weeks later. You just have to go with an open mind and be patient!!
This is the attic room, and a couple of the others. All the lights work too.

I love the decor in it! I love history, especially the victorian era. Someday I'll get to build a big victorian house and decorate it. Until then, I'll stick to my lil cottage and learning how to wallpaper! Hilarious!

Oh my gosh! That doll house is adorable! I disliked dolls when I was a kid - if I'd had something like that I'd have most certainly changed my tune. Hurray! Beautiful - great find - lucky girl! Thumbs up

I just wanted (and got some) model horses and books. I had to have a "doll" cowgirl to ride the model horses, but that was as far as I was going with her. Hilarious! Her clothes never got changed, her hair never got brushed (in fact, I think I cut it short Rolling on the floor laughing ) poor thing, she was only a prop! Whistling

Hilarious! cardboard boxes make great stores and houses too! an empty box of macaroni & cheese layed on its side becomes and instant shopping mall with dirt and pine needle roads leading up to it! Rolling on the floor laughing Sad thing is, I think kids today have too much 'stuff' and therefor less imagination than we did as kids! Sad

Very true!

My five year-old boy has like six tubs of just *indoor* toys. He has the most fun with homemade cardboard car garages and train stations. Probably because we *make* them together, and we're recycling/re-purposing. Big Grin He's big into recycling!

Now - I have a woodworking project to put up, but....I'm not ready to start it yet. Should I wait - or go ahead so's I don't forget?

i just found you guys here...Carol, I can't believe you got that doll house for $50 or did you forget a zero? Chelle, Anjl. When I was little I had an old box camera. I loved horse statues too. I remember there used to be kits for building them...plastic snap together, but then you would put some kind of glue all over them and roll them in fibers to give them 'fur' and glue on manes and tails, paint blazes and hocks. I used to build frences out of popsicle sticks and could spend a whole day prepping a fenced pasture for my horses just to get some pictures with my box camera. Once in a while Barbie would be out there in her jeans but mostly horses, fences, evergreen trees (I got lectured more than once for cutting branches off the shrubs). Some of the pictures were so good you couldn't tell them from real. Wonder what happened to them?
