Everyones pics are amazing! That 'Simba' marigold is quite something! And I like the 'Lemon Gem' too! I saw some very unique ones called 'Yummy Mummy' that were really quite odd looking. http://cgi.ebay.com/YUMMY-MUMMY-MARIGOLDS-25-SEEDS-TOTALLY-D...

I really like Simba too. Will have to look for that one. I emailed the seller on eBay to ask how tall the Yummy Mummy ones grow. Will probably try them. Solan is one I let reseed from year to year and always transplant a few to my neighbor's yard because they like them too.

This is a gold mum with a self seeded marigold in the front of it. Not sure of the name of the marigold. It is one a co-worker gave me a few seeds of many years ago and I have just let it reseed each year. I think it's a French marigold. Maybe 10-12" tall. I thought it was smart to reseed it's self in place that it looked so nice.

I usually only grow the above 2 marigolds, but did buy a 4 pack of these last summer. Think it is one of the Durango ones.

Just received my Yummy Mummy seeds today. Guess they grow 12-18" tall, so they may end up in pots. Afraid a lot of things are going to end up in pots this year. Just not much space left to plant anything. Since I can't stand to pay postage on just one pkg of seeds, I also bought a few other seeds from the same eBay seller: Red Tretra Versaille Cosmos, Tokajer Gaillardi and Zahara Double Fire Zinnias. Most of these may end up in pots on my deck. Should be a nice hot combination of colors.

I grew 'Vanilla' last year and it was more creamy. Heres a picture of it. It looked great with purple heliotrope!

Thanks. The vanilla marigold looks great with heliotrope.
A good combination! I won't use vanilla where i want white flowers.

Thank-you! They were more of a creamy colour. The heliotrope was fairly easy and the small seedling plants grew alot faster in small pots. I used the bottom third of a styrofoam cup and they grew like mad, VS just sitting there doing nothing for months in a regular size cup.
Also they seem to be sensitive to fertilizer burn, so go lightly on the fert until they are established and even then still be careful. Other then those 2 things they were great all summer. I also planted a 'limelight' licorice plant with them and it was great too!

This is the first Yummy Mummy I grew from seed to flower. Put 3 each in 2 pots. Looks like this pot will have 2 yellow and 1 orange or gold. Not sure if this is fully opened or if it will get fluffier. Thought it would be a good pot to set somewhere out in a garden bed after the daylilies are almost done blooming. Hopefully will provide some late season color.
