So many things.... Rolling my eyes.

As you say, Jay I agree It is one thing to joke with Bob during the news and say "Boy, if I were Dictator, that wouldn't happen"...but when it's time to write it down, there are so many variables to be considered: Starting Right Now? 10 years ago?

I would change the Prison System. I would require UAs for anyone on government assistance and require they pay it back in services to the community. I would legalize marijuana. I would require Government Service a la Israel.

Then I would start to get serious....

Don't mean to open any of this for discussion... Just fantasies....

Oh yeah, eliminate the death penalty. I'm not familiar w/Israel's system, but mandatory civil service such as Germany has would be good, having non-violent tendencies myself (stop laughing, it's true).

Oh yeah, & I'd make high heels illegal. No way would healthcare be expected to pay for podiatrists when vanity caused someone to ruin their feet w/high heels. Rolling my eyes.

That's right, damn it. I can't be held responsible for someone else's lack of foot wear sense.

-I'd make equality a rule, no matter who it was.
-I'd change free speech to include fact checkers; if you're gonna ruin someone's life, it better be true or we'll make you swallow your own ink. The news would be really boring if I were in charge.
-Everybody would have a job. Probably the best thing that communism did. But with bonuses for well done work.
-Animals would be taken out of the monetary system; no buying, selling, etc.
-Large families would be made out of a combination of households - no more 19 children for one freakin' (and I do mean FREAK) couple. For a really draconian reign, I'd probably be bigger on spaying people than cats.
-Public transportation and bikes would be promoted. Walking would be

I think I'd just flat out ban visual news... it'd have to be in print. I second the fact-checking & ink drinking. Hurray!

YAY on the fact checking AND the spay and neuter clinics for more than pets.

No job?....Community Child Care Centers, trash pickup on the beaches, like the old CCC. You getting help from the government? You help the government...

gun & ammo restrictions, graded amnesty for illegal immigrants, flat tax. Tax credit for people who DON'T have kids. Tax penalty for folks who can't manage to get their kids through high school.

Immediate arrest & psych eval for anyone claiming god speaks to him/her about national/global issues.

Mandatory bible studies using commentary developed by atheists and cultural relativists.

Stop so-called sustainable energy plants til folks really get that a 1500 acre parking lot in the middle of the desert is not an improvment, that cycling fossil fuel burning generators to make up for wind-power short fall creates more GH gas than just running them 24/7, that humans w/farts for brains are a bigger threat to the environment that any cow could ever be.

"For a really draconian reign, I'd probably be bigger on spaying people than cats."

Or, as a radical environmentalist once said in a speech, "retroactive abortion"!

What would I do?

* make every politician live in an undocumented farm worker's 'camp' for a month with no water, no facilities, nada
* make 'em pose as an uninsured single mother/father and find 'healthcare' for themselves and their kid
* cancel their highfalutin' salaries and perks and make 'em get by on fast food wages for another month
* make 'em look for a job in Michigan and when they can't find one, live without unemployment benefits

I could go on. I'd make a damned good tyrant!

Oh yeah - I'd make all drugs legal just to watch the freakin' cartels fall apart. I'd like to see some of them look for work, too.

- Require an IQ test before mating or voting
- Cancel their highfalutin' salaries permanently! Minimum wage only for all political offices.
- Enforce the separation of religion and government

I'm sure I could think of more...

But ya know, I gotta say - intelligence doesn't seem to be a good indicator of much. There are some people out there who are *very* smart, and very dangerous, IMO. Really, Hitler was no dummy.

Could we modify your test to include ability to love, feed and teach? You don't have to, of course - you're the dictator! Hilarious!

Teaching kids how to tie their own shoes, cross streets and suss out a fraud...StreetSmarts. It should be taught everywhere and required to pass.

Ahh, but I did not specify what the IQ number had to be!

Yes, you are right, it takes much more than raw intelligence to be a good parent. Perhaps my first duty as dictator will be to develop a PQ test (parent quotient) to qualify to mate, and some other sanity test to qualify to vote.

On the other hand, in a movie I once saw (can't remember the name just now - it was a sci-fi with the big bugs) they required xx years of service before you were allowed to vote. I like that idea too!

Great idea!!!

I think some years of service "for the better good' should be required of EVER"Yone...whether it is on a farm, repairing mass transit, cleaning schools...something.

LOL - you got me on that one, Jeannie.

I think civil service for a couple of years out of high school is a *great* idea. Give high energy kids something to do with their time other than spend their parent's money for a degree that they're not old enough to decide on, give the US a band of people who will do stuff that later on they wouldn't touch, get the city kids out of the city and the country kids out of the country so when someone says they're a patriot they know what they're actually talking about, not just their own little corner of the world.

Grand plan.

Ban mega-bass in cars... god, I hate sitting next to those at traffic lights. Angry

No more loud pipes on motorcycles.

Ticketing exposed fat rolls... gah. Sticking tongue out Oh, man, I would so have a fashion police... the 'bedroom' look--lacy camisoles, baby doll panties--at the supermarket is revolting. Especially on girls significantly over or underweight. If you have to hold up your pants to walk (honestly) then how can you do anything useful?

Oh yeah, and the topic of "executive compensation"... it's called clawback... we take the money back and fund the retirement/pension funds they've screwed so magnificently.
