It's all about choices.
I envy....pure envy...people who love their parents. I truely loved Bob's parents. Blame for stuff doesn't enter into my feelings. My mother was/is emotionally battered and unstable...my father and I mended our love for eachother just before he died which was a beautiful healing but about 50 years late. At least it happened and I am grateful for it...even tho' I am convinced (as was his doctor) that she killed him. Blinking

Functional families are rare...and dysfunction took all kinds of shapes and form. Yes...respect is a two way street and I don't believe that because one party is bigger/older/more educated/etxc. it gives them the right NOT to be respectful!

We've all done the best we can...and I sincerely believe 'they' did the best they could...given their lack of whatevers. I decided a long time ago that the hurt and the anger against her was damaging ME, she felt nothing...so why feel it?

Motherhood is way overrated.... Grumbling

It was Bob who finally made me wake up and stop suffering when he said, "Why go thru this? She is just a crazy, mean, vile old lady". Yup.
Leap. The net will appear.

Yes, realizing my mom was a nutjob really helped me not take her personally. A huge release. Big Grin

Re: the cartoon... I have no idea, Alma. My own personal delusional version of nirvana is that they finally do, though. Rolling my eyes.
