It's all about choices.
Interesting link,

http://journeyfree.org/2011/07/why-religious-trauma-syndrome...

It was posted by a woman raised JW. I had never thought about RTS but I can imagine many go thru it.....

It's ironic that having a stronger religious faith should be listed as a sign of post-traumatic growth.

Wow. Carol, you do find the most interesting articles! Having never had any religious belief to lose, I hadn't realized how traumatic it would be for someone raised in an intrusive faith to abandon it.

And even in my own family, none of whom are religicos, I can remember when I was about 12 or so, making the comment "There ain't no such animal" when the subject of "God" came up in the presence of my brother's little boy. You'd have thought I'd uttered some sort of foul profanity from the way my brother reacted. Jumping up and down and yelling "don't you ever say anthing like that in front of my son!" Sheesh. And you'll notice, I remember it 50 years later, too. Yeah, I can see RTS being a real problem.

Having had religion stuffed down my throat as a youngster,
I find that article very enlightening.
I don't think that I have experienced RTS myself, but I do think that much of my young life was wasted by the over emphasis on religion.

It is annoying to me that believing in a religious mythology is considered
part of being a "normal" person.

But it is okay for the so called "believers" not to live according to their chosen
religious mythology. I am often tempted to say:
You believe it, but I live it! ( but I don't say it.)
