I got this as Isabella...I have to cut many of these back severely 2-3 times a year and they come back like this. The trunk is about 5" thick (4 years old). Note the red Ohia blossoms over the brug...cool, eh?

All of my brugs are planted in about 5" of soil, they receive over 100" of rain a year and I just throw whatever fert. I have around on them. Idea for them, I think - well, at least MOST of them. When we have weeks of rain, the little nubbies on the trunks start growing roots!!!!!

5" of soil? really, what are the rest that their getting their growth from and to hold all that blooms.
Carol,
Your Brugs are looking gorgeous! Maya Magic is a green sport of Maya. I wonder if you could call your reverted green Maya branch by the same name — Maya Magic?

Doesn't she though? Tried talking hubby into moving to Hawaii just so I wouldn't have to bring the brugs in every fall. Didn't work.............. told me just get rid of them then you don't have to bring them in.,

I beg you're pardon. I didn't mean you per se just men in general.......You are the best of the lot. You are like us. Didn't mean to step on toes.
I suppose I should be happy. He's taking more of an interest this summer than in the past summers and has actually been a real big help and has come up with some pretty good ideas. He just won't move to Hawaii. I don't know why,......................

You're on the main Island right? The bigger one?Wish I could talk him into just a vacation there but he's such a darn workaholic he works his vacation. Takes it on paper and then gets paid twice for one week. Guess that's why we can have so many gardens.

Yes, we are on the E. side of the Big Island - Island of Hawaii...the largest of the chain...the furthest south. Driving 2.5 hours over to the other side is a major undertaking for us....it is a trip to another world!!! We are wet, get the trade winds, grow the tropical flowers while the otherside grows little. They do grow coffee in the upper elevations....but then, so do we and ours is JUST as good and not as expensive! Coffee picking is starting tomorrow and we will be out there about every 5 days for a couple of months!!!! Good fun (and hard on the shoulders!!!).

It could be the photo...but they ARE darker. The original brug there was a cutting of the other Maya I have and it suddenly started a solid green shoot and the variegated plant became overpowered and dwindled away....

Hi Carol, took more photos of mine yesterday. Pink Ecuador is going to be opening its blooms soon and my Wretched Mess is opening as well. She's a double and only one is partly open. So will photograph her later as well.
This first one is a Noid, the second one is Lemon Twist
