Thanks zuzu. I'm living with my son and DIL at their mobilehome so don't have much room here, BUT found a community garden about 1/2 mile from us and will rent a space there for $150 a yr and that includes water, mulch and garden tools. Here at the trailer, I will keep my mini-roses and daylilies once I remove bushes. The previous owner just planted this bushes and they are terrible. It's all green. I MUST have color. Plus I found buried under these bushes, camillas, and a pink hydrangea.

The community garden sounds ideal, Marti. You'll be able to do as much, or as little, as you want there. The hydrangea and camellia discovery sounds wonderful. I love finding hidden treasures in new gardens. I haven't moved for more than 25 years now, but when I was moving to new houses frequently, I tried not to do much digging until after the first spring, hoping that lots of exciting bulbs would pop up in unexpected places.

I know how that goes. I have to get the bulbs I brought from KY planted. I found these bulbs growing wild in a field. I had never seen daffadils that looked like these. I shared some bulbs with friends and brought a handfull with me. This is a picture of them.
I tried contacting a bulb company but they couldn't ID it either.

It's almost time to buy bulbs again. Last year I bought a really cheap assortment of tulips at Costco and they turned out to be absolutely gorgeous. Later I bought another really cheap assortment of lilies and they also turned out to be absolutely gorgeous -- nothing but pastel shades. Either I'm really lucky or I'm just a flower floozy and think everything is absolutely gorgeous.
I think they are very unusual, will have to keep track of you in case you have plenty to spare next year.
I am not in Cal. but my great granddaughter is.
