This is the place to show your "Before and After" photo's!
Whether it's a single container or an entire grouping, it's great to see how time and growth with change the end result. Sometimes we never know what to expect when planting a container and there can be many surprises along the line.
This is also a place to post photo's of Container Renovations. Plants you've replaced, that possibly changed the entire look or your original container.
Please post a separate thread for each "Before and After" segment, so that interested people can comment on your plantings and an opening photo would be great!
It's nice to put a face with the gorgeous Containers you create up there in Calgary! I just clicked on your profile and you've also got a nice site going on! I just added it to my watchlist as it is something I need to learn about. Hope you'll come and post some of your beautiful container photos.
And YEAH...1 month! That's an upside-down tomato planter and I'm sure you can see that the tomatoes didn't have a chance! (It was too late in the season anyways...but I try!)
Kat you certainly do have a talent with your containers! What is the variegated vine in the container on either side? I saw your thread where you mention having a spot on HGTV what's the link - I bet it was a good piece!
Thanks Ultimate! That vine is a Tri-Color Sweet Potato Vine and grows out of control if you let it.
It looks like the HGTV article is totally gone, but it was on the front page of their Landscaping site and stayed there for about 3 months last summer. They also set up a Marketplace for me. It was a very nice boost and I had no idea it was going to happen. In fact, when it came out, I was very low on stock and Heads were backordered so I probably missed quite a few sales. It was amazing though.
Hi ge1836! Great to see you again! Your pots look great! It really is amazing how they change so quickly after they get a hold on things! Love the Coleus!
Thanks
Coleus are a main feature on my deck all summer.I took cuttings of tried and true varieties. I color echo and some I counted on last summer were disapointing in that the colors didnt look like the pictures. I took pictures of them in my environment so when I color echo this year,I wont have odd combos.
Jo Ann...I truly adore Coleus, but it's a funny plant. Especially when it's survived for a while and has become a Perennial. Sometimes get a little mutated (but not bad sometimes). I am so behind with my garden this year because of the freezing/frost, but hopefully this upcoming weekend will be half decent. I am so wanting to plant some gorgeous pots, but I have to clean things up first! Arrrgghhh!
We are due for summer weather this weekend. Hope the DD and SIL will take down the xmas decorations.
I am starting to refill the planters and will put coleus out the end of May.
I really have to smile sometimes when I see a transformation in a particular plant...Check this photo out and I think you'll understand. This was a little Norfolk Island Pine that is now about 6' tall in two years! And...in a container!
It's just amazing what less than a month can do around here in the right conditions. I am loving these Sunpatiens this year! Last year they were terrible.
Container Gardens are one of the fastest growing segments of gardening these days. Come on in and share ideas and gain some new ones.Everybody is welcome!
