How often do you water? Do you have automatic irrigation or do you water by hand? How do you you fertilize?

I'm pretty new to planting in containers.

I use Miracle gro because it's easily found, and i can get big bags.

I help take do some plantings in May, at our RV Park. We do some hanging baskets and have those big whiskey barrel - which were all dry rotted so i replaced them with big plastic ones.

the wood ones never held the water and the plants had to be watered every day. They are pretty much full shade, as are the hanging baskets -- as they hang within an open gazebo.

I'm not really good at picking out plants -- and i even did a lot of research last year. the pots never look like the ones you get at the store, pre-assembled.

This year I ordered some Caladiums adn i'll probably do 3 bulbs per planter.... but i wont be able to get the bulbs in the pots until mid-June. We try to have our pots ready for Memorial Day - as that is a big weekend for us in the Park.

I'm hoping to learn a lot in this forum... hope there's a lot of info for shade.

I water all my containers by hand. Last year I didn't have to water to much because we had so much rain. Instead of watering I had to constantly dump out all the access water. For most of my containers I would use what ever fertilizer was on sale. If it was for brugmansias I would get a fertilizer that had a high number for blooms and add seaweed fertilizer or alfalfa pellets.

I was reading the thread on DG about "The Recipe" in the Brugs forum... no idea how i wound up there as i dont have any... but i found one [recipe] that i use for house plants... so i do have some of those 'odd' ingredients around the house.

maybe i'll make up a gallon to take with me.
