Well...I ordered 3 trellises online last Wednesday. Exactly 1 week later they're delivered and sitting on my front porch today, and just as I guessed - a 5' X 8' trellis is not delivered in the same sized box! Kind of scary!
So I'm eager to start putting them together. Don isn't home yet and I think I should probably impress him with my skills when it comes to putting together foreign products and not reading the directions!
So I open the first box and check out the pieces...There's a lot!
Hey...I'm smart and innovative! I rig myself up a little platform of chairs. It works for a while...but when you have to remove the structure all the pieces start falling out!
So...lets try it on the ground!!! Bracing it up against something works, until you put the crossbar piece in the middle and don't realize it has no holes and is supposed to be on the bottom. Back to square one!!! It's only 93 in the shade today and I'm getting a little frustrated!!!
Well Don come's home and I hate to admit it, but it really is so much easier with 2 people!
As the directions state...you start with the left bar on the bottom, put in the crossbars and then put on the top-bar when somebody is holding things...
I cannot believe how I "LUCKED OUT" here. Previously I had metal trellises on the outside of the pool cage. We had to take them down because they started to fall apart because of the salt corrosion from the water. I really wanted to install these on the inside of the cage, but when I measured it seemed they might be 1/2" too large. Well...they fit like a glove!!! It's really incredible and was a complete accident! You would have thought somebody custom made them! I thought about painting them to match the cage...but when they're covered with vines...I don't think it's going to matter. We bolted them to the cage and I can't believe how good they fit in.
I am absolutely amazed and thrilled by this product! Not only are they substantial, they're very sturdy. I had a bit of a problem putting the 1st one together on my own, but with 2 people it takes less than 20 minutes. They're made of vinyl so there's no maintenance or painting. The hardware package that comes with the trellis actually includes spacers and long screws should you wish to affix it to a wall. They've thought of everything!
When I seen these huge trellises, I searched the internet to find the best price: They ranged anywhere from $149.00 to $209.00. When you bought 3 from this place, they came down to $143.00 each less 10%. Shipping on these 3 was a flat rate of $10.00.
Thank-you all! I have one more I put together for the lizard lounge, but we just haven't got it up yet. Tomorrow! My vines will love me! I have that darned Passion Flower that I thought I and the freeze got rid of just going nuts...Maybe it will settle down if I give it a place to climb!
Hey Pam...great to see you here! How's your head(s)?
My head planter is doing great and my daughters....well....it is still in the box and she'll get it for her birthday (September 30). Since she doesn't know she's getting it yet, I have time to grow her some hair. I have another Hindu Rope I water and tend to for her.
I was wandering where everyone was going for a while....then I finally found out. Competition is a good thing!!
Oh Good Pam! Now that's a great gift - especially when it's already planted. I would love to ship them planted but I think that would be next to impossible!

Hey Kat. I love the trellis's just perfect for what ever you want to let climb. I wanted to tell you that a special banana that I thought was lost has popped. yeah. Still no sign of the ficus tree. I think it is lost forever and the fern tried and failed. I am planning to take it off the deck to my hospital area and just let it be and hope for some late late growth. We just need to be patient and have nice little surprises with our tropicals. I almost replanted my banana area with new plants. I have been really surprised with things that came back long after I had said no way because I thought it was much too late. It is getting really hot here. 87 today. enjoy yourself shirleyt
