| I did the backsplash in our kitchen about 3 years ago using only Kilz and some exterior paint left over from painting our house a couple years before. It has held up well. I don't have much surface space on my base counters and 3 of them are free standing and mobile so I think I will someday hire someone to put new surfaces on them. This house was built in 1950 and the countertops are the typical white with dark specks in it. Easy to stain but also gives up the stains fairly well with the application of bleach. They've seen a lot of hard usage. I like shiny surfaces but not the stainless steele that is so popular now. I guess I have just worked with too much of it in cafe's. I understand there are different grades of ss but I don't like any of them well enough to put them in my home. |
