Over the years I have purchased Patricia Ann's Sunset, Neon, and Creekside Marge. What are the dahlias shown below.1 is a lovely Waterlily with the back as flat as if I had laid it on a table, and the petals reaching almost all the way across my large hands. I really like it. 2. May or may not be the same.
The colors on both are great. I can't tell too much by the 1st one as it is not very open. The 2nd one is definately not a waterlily. I'd say that one is Neon Splendor.

Ah, Ted, That confirms my suspicion. It is the one I most recently bought from Teresa at CRD, so most likely to be the survivor planted in this spot. What a beauty!

Tgarland, is the picture faded or was the dahlia really that light subdued shade of orange? It is pretty but doesn't grab me the way an intense orange does for fall bouquets. If that is the true color I probably don't have it. anymore.

Its a very pretty dahlia and I can imagine bright I seem to have gone overboard on ordering oranges and reds this year. Must be the endless gray of the skies this spring.

I think I Have just confirmed that the 2nd of my oranges is Neon Splendor. Just looked at Swan Islands pic up close and realized that (1) It really does look like a better close up of what I have and (2) I already ordered it and it should be here about tomorrow! Guess I will have a chance to grow them side by side and make sure of the name! And will be cutting and selling LOTS of orange dahlia this year! I also have "Safari" on order from SI.

Nope, not Neon Splendor...That is a B and this is definitely a BB. I think this one might be Ken's Flame. And once I realized that I ordered 2 Neon Splendors for this summer...IF a little is good, more is fantastic It produced copious tubers! I will probably plant some in my flower garden for excitement in the fall .
A place to learn about dahlias. After growing hundreds of them for 16 years, I will post all I learn about dahlias or their care here, and welcome the same from others! Bet you can't grow just one.
