Anyone have an extra of this one? It was a sentimental favorite of mine and I seem to have lost it this year.( It always makes me think of my adult daughter Melinda who has autism and no longer lives with me). I could trade an Accent Rooster, Verrone's Sandra K, Hilltop Kismet or any of about a hundred others for it.

Whooaaa, Hold off! I think I spotted multiple eye's just beginning to swell on one little wizened piece of the last possily viable tuber as I was sorting and tossing those that were not eyeing up! Yippeeee...I Hope!

Our family has been touched by autism as well. All the best with your special Dahlia that shares a name with a special daughter.

It looks like I have my Woodland's Merinda! Its growing nicely now in its started pot! Big SMILE! I think I also found one live spout on an iffy peice of Cyma Warrior which makes me ecstatic as it was already sold out every place I tried.
And I found growth at last on a Pink Lemonade I paid big money for from Dan's Dahlias that sat like a dead thing for 3 months before showing a growth eye bud! No growth on what remained of Hollyhill Icarus or ?Hillcrest Liam but I had two plants start off of Hamari Gold so it will have to help tide me over until next year when hopefully I can replace them.

Hey, that would be great! I only had a few blooms off it with our weird cold year but I really liked them. Is this your first year to grow it?

So I was out planting my Woodland's Mirinda tuber this morning and accidently broke off the sprout! Clean off to the tuber. I planted it anyway hoping that it will re-generate or something. But I'm going to pot up a back up just in case it doesn't show up.

Merinda is having a hard time of it isn't she! Lets hope we both can bring her through the summer and grow some good tubers of her! She is such a little beauty when conditions are right for her!

WOULD YOU BELEIVE!!!? My Husband was out clearing the weeds off of the planting bed when he dug up a sprouting tuber. I asked if there was any tag near it and he says, Oh yeah, right here, and picks up the tag to HILLCREST LIAM!!!
THe long sprout had broken nearly off but there are at least 3 other nice bud eyes ready to grow so I will see it I Can root the sprout as well. Talk about making my day! I sorta remember now that the clump looked in bad condition so I purposely left a piece of it in the ground in hopes that it would root! Hedged my bets so to speak! And I think I won!

Life is short. Enjoy!
That one rates a WhoHoooooooo!

My poor little Pink Giraffe has sprout growth that's trying to grow faster than it's tuber is rotting. I keep cutting off the bad, and the rot seems to keep coming. I planted that little sprout with precious little tuber left today. I have more doubts about it as the days pass. It may be time to contact the grower and tell her that that particular tuber, though the plant seems to have some heart, is not going to make it. I don't think she's going to have another tuber to replace it with this season.

aaa, sad about your pink Giraffe...now picturing a grave long enough for a giraffe to lie in state.....

I went and sold all my Hollyhill Lemon Ices, somehow and only had one left that had not sprouted. I planted it, dug it up to check today and it still looks like it has potential. Fingers crossed. I have my doubts on the Hilltop Liam hubby found in the garden....afraid to dig it out of its pot and check it! Trying to be patient. Also have my replacement Wyn dahlias in pots in the greenhouse and those big guys take forever to sprout! Replaced a Wyn's Mystique and Wyn's Peach Sorbet with W. Honey Spice and Feisty Freda. I really wanted that Peach Sorbet but it just never did sprout even though I had been nursing it along since mid March. I am getting a nice little collection of the Wynne's dahlias, but most I have to order 2 of or a replacement plant so it takes 2 years to get them going.Thumb of 2012-05-31/Islander/d82d2d

Yes but the droves of people that come to buy the boquets makes the wait worth it.

If it will turn a handful of customers into "droves" it will be well worth it! RIght now having trouble finding enough flowers for my bouquets while the season is transisting. Roses just starting to open, don't want to sell my iris, peonies not really ready until next week. But yes, once dahlia season starts sales definitely pick up!

Well, better go pick what ever I can find. Arms are rather sore form 7 hours clearing buttercups and grass out of the entry garden but with DH's help we got it done. That's 3 beds down out of 8. They are not huge beds, whole area probably covers about 35 by 60, minus paths and patio. Sure can pack a lot of weeds into them though! I am going to try a straw mulch this year. I kind of like the grain popping up, its nice in bouquets for late summer. Straw is expensive here though...everything has to be brought to the island by ferry.

I'm a survivor ...I'm not goin' give up.. I'm not goin' stop..I'm goin' work harder -

My Woodland's Mirinda (which i broke TWO eyes clean off) - poked through the ground today! Hurray!

I'm glad I decided to stick it in the ground despite my worst fears. Good thing because none of my Clearview Erin tubers survived.

Oh MAN! Aren't these the most fantastic little plants with a will to live!!! My piece that I hope is Liam is definitely sending up sprouts, Merinda is growing and flourishing, and Cyma Warrior is making a nice solid 8" plant with lots of leaves. Its going to be family reunion time when these folks bloom!

Todd, the tubers from you are doing great except for the red varigated one, which is extremely slow waking up.It does look like it will grow...probably doesn't recognize summer Puget Sound style! The red and white bed for it is not dug out of the weeds yet so no hurry anyhow.
