Hi - I know we all have different bodies, and different things work for us - whether it's circuit training, Boot Camps, walking, climbing stairs, Personal Trainer, etc.
In this forum, let's discuss what we use, what we've used and find doesn't work........... etc. Whistling

Personally - I need to lose weight BEFORE I go back to the gym. I've gone in as someone using the gym 3x week and got really good at it and losing weight. Then I got a "lost my job" stress and gained again. I went back to the gym when I was heavy and got LOOKS because they'd seen me slimmer. 'fraid I can't handle the LOOKS Rolling my eyes. so now that I'm on track, I want to lose about 20 lbs more..... THEN I'll go back to the gym. Thumbs up
That, and want to feel like this job I'm in will become perm..... Right now I've been there 2 weeks and it's meant to be a "temp to perm" position as per the agency that sent me, and "could be extremely temp" as per the company I'm working at.
btw - this company has a fitness center that's one floor down from me, and I signed up to have access. Access granted yesterday, so now I have to bring my exercise wear. It's open to me 24/7!!!
Regular bikes, recumbent bikes, ellipticals, medicine balls, etc. I can't use the ellipticals cuz they make me dizzy.......... Sticking tongue out

Susan what a great perk!!!!

My main form of exercise is yoga...great for building flexibility and strength...but not so much for cardio. So earlier this summer I added walking to my exercise. I try to go on days I do not have yoga and even on days when I do. Lots of hills in the area that I live so that really helps with the cardio.

We bought a WII this Winter but my interest in it has faded. Does anyone else feel like they get a good workout with WII? What is your workout like?

I've never used a Wii and only tried a video once............ but that's not my "thing". Sticking tongue out
I prefer walking, climbing stairs (real) and going to the gym. Rolling my eyes.
One reason I like the gym I go to is they have a TV hooked up to the bike, and also have a steam room! They don't have a pool, which would make it even more likeable, but........ well, can't have everything!! Rolling on the floor laughing

Perpetually happy!
I can't do a gym because it's in town and after work I just want to come home. On my days off I don't want to drive all the way to town.
I like online videos. I've been doing this one lately. Scroll down to the "12 minute standing up abs" workout. I can really feel it in my middle!! It doesn't bother my knees. It's perfect.

Lee Ann - I'm with you, after work I just want to come home. That's why, on the days when I go to the gym, I go before work. Don't have breakfast first though........ not good to exercise after eating. I usually bring an Oatmeal pack with me to work - add hot water and you're set! I get to the gym at 6am, shower and leave at 7pm. I get to work at 7:30 (start at 8am, so have lots of time for breakfast). Oh, and I like to have a piece of fruit - apple usually. That, and coffee Hilarious!

It also helps to get the brain energized too. I find I do my best work after a good workout and a shower..........
Also, the gym is on the way to work, so I get up at 5:15 instead of 6:00, put on my workout gear, and put my work clothes in the bag (I lay 'em out the night before - don't want them wrinkled from sitting in a bag all evening). Then I hang 'em up at the gym and after I shower, I have my clean clothes. Oh, did I forget to mention I Get Energized From The Workout!!! Big Grin
When I'm going as I should and want to, I go 3x a week - Mon Wed & Friday. Good to start a week off with getting energized.

Wow, I do admire those who can get up that early and go work out!!! I'll be trying to pry my butt outta bed at 7 tomorrow , to go to 8 30 class Big Grin

When I was in my 290's, the Circuit machine thing was new and cool, and I did that awhile with my roomie. THen they added free weights and we did that (all macho lil girls that we were) Then I met a nice guy and started going steady and quit all that. LOL

Fast forward=
I've been going to a class called Group Power for a year + and really like it! It is a program that the club 'buys' so other fitness clubs may have the same. (Or maybe there are other versions.) It's a class for an hour, you use a bar with weights and do eight different songs to target areas of the whole body, plus warm up and cool down song. I feel really strong, and like a lot of the music. The instructors watch you for proper form. Having a set time motivates me to go regularly, 2-3 times per week. Having regular others in the class is nice too, someone to chat with. For years I resisted the idea of a class, and now I love it, go figure!. And there's no great pressure to look stylish, which was one of my major fears. Big Grin A whole range of body types and ages.

ah yes - you touched on one of my "bugs" - like I said earlier - I want to lose 20 more lbs before I'm comfortable at the gym. Y'see - there are a lot of muscle type guys, and very very slim ladies that have been working out for Years, and I feel like I don't "measure up" plus the fact that I had been going 3x a week and haven't been for awhile. So they've seen me "when" and to go now would be embarrassing.........
That's one reason I have this cubit - to build up my confidence!! Lovey dubby

i do 'get' that!
I suppose different clubs may have different demographics, but not eveyrone has multiple clubs to choose from. We're considering shopping for a new gym to save some $ but I don't know if the others near me have similar mixes of people.

I tried Zumba Its an aerobic, dance type class. It sounds fun. But it uses more dance moves, like hip motion and footwork, that I'm not familiar with. The instructor bounces like she has spring in her feet!!! It moved pretty fast. With not being familiar with the moves, and the speed of the music, I felt very awkward and clunsy. I went 2 x and don't plan to go back. But thats just me. I hear you can get special shoes, (totaly optional) that are a bit slipperier, to help with the footwork. After paying club fees, I don't want to shell out for special shoes.

Today and yesterday I didn't go out at lunch. I guess because I have someone to share lunch with at my new job, I'm not the loner who goes out walking....... *Blush*
Well, this weekend we're going tenting, so I will be getting lots of exercise - setting up the tent, hauling supplies and boxes to set up, walking lots!
So, I won't be logging my stuff to myfitnesspal.com until Sunday night.
I won't be online after tonight either. Leave work early at Noon tomorrow, and then "hit the road" as soon as we can!! Big Grin

siiiiiiiiiigh Friday aft and evening - 70% chance of rain.......... uck! Going to be difficult setting up a tent in the rain!! Sticking tongue out
Well, we'll just have to hope we can set it up between raindrops! It's supposed to rain more in the evening.
Well, as we're off at Noon, and it's only a 2 hour drive, maybe we can get a bit of a retrieve from the heavy downpour that happens in the evening........... depends how quickly we can load the truck with our stuff!! Whistling

LaVonne, Shine on! I know what you mean, after years of thinking about losing some weight I finally (with the help of this cubit!) took a step that is helping me to be accountable. It feels good to see the small successes!

Susan you guys must be real confident in your tent! My husband and I had a tent once that was not rain worthy...thanks goodness for the inflatable bed that we put everything on to keep stuff dry...while a river ran through the tent. Stay dry and enjoy the experience.
