It's all about choices.
I am very curious about why the fundamentalists are defending their homophobia by quoting the Bible....and in my searching I found this really really interesting...

http://www.soulforce.org/article/homosexuality-bible-gay-chr...

The author is gay, and has studied the Bible, studied Greek and Hebrew to read ancient texts. Very illuminating thoughts here.

Aloha Hoya,
I so wish I'd had this article y'day when I was reading an editorial on CNN. A man was ranting about the security guard in a mall kicking out a lesbian couple because they had greeted each other with a hug and a kiss. The head of security apologized to them but then it was too late.
I was reared in church and attended 'til I was about 16 when I no longer felt welcome because I was living my life as as an openly gay teen.
So, I don't have the Biblical knowledge as far as specific scripture goes to make a very convincing argument with someone when he/she is on a rant and spewing bile and venom.
I will print off the article if that's alright. Maybe it will give me a little edge over the person.
Thanks for posting it.

Glad you enjoyed it Kevin.... I am getting really tired of the Bible being quoted when it is not relavant AND not justified!!! Grumbling

I couldn't agree with you more. I just wish I had the wits about me to not let my emotions take over instead of my intelligence when they try to justify everything via the Bible.
That's one of the reasons I so enjoy 'Real Time with Bill Maher'. Although I don't consider myself an atheist as he considers himself, sometimes becoming agnostic enters my mind.
I live right on the border of Alabama and Mississippi, right in the middle of the Bible belt. The friend with whom I live and I have been together for 32 yrs. He's used to this attitude of these people and although I was born and reared only about 80 miles from her in MS the people here seem rabidly religious.
In part, that's why I'd rather just stay here at the house, tend the cats, birds, and my orchid and work outside in the garden. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. After all, only we can make our own happiness. Other people can compliment it but ultimately it's up to us.
I became so outraged over this Phelps guy who says he's he's a preacher that I had to turn off the TV whenever there was a segment on about him. I even contacted the Southern Poverty Law Center to which I subscribe. As of yet, I haven't heard back from them.
Sorry about the rant but thanks for allowing me to do so.
Best of luck to you and the rest of us.

You know, tomorrow is Wear Purple in support against homophobic bullying that has caused the suicides of those kids. It started on FaceBook and has run around the world a couple of times.... Hurray!

Well then, I most assuredly WILL wear purple! But there's one little problem: I'm brown/purple color-blind! But, I'll get Owen to pick me out a purple shirt. I've nowhere to go but I'll wear it in solidarity. Thanks for telling me of it. Lee
