Violet is a slug you'd love in your garden. Her pretty Mokume Gane shading will brighten up any area! She's 4" long, 1-1/2" wide and stands 1-1/2" high. This item has been sprayed with a UV protectant/water repellent finish and is suitable to be placed outside in above freezing temperatures.
This item is handmade from polymer clay. There is no painting on this item. This design was inspired by Christi Friesen.
Mokume Gane (pronounced moe-koo-may-GAHN-ay) is a Japanese method of fusing together and manipulating metal to achieve a wood grain appearance. Polymer clay artists mimic this process by layering several different colors of clay sheets and thin metal leaf or foil. These layers are then manipulated or distorted and thin sheets are sliced from the stack to reveal beautiful patterns. These pieces can be used for many applications. The process does take a considerable amount of time. This piece has been covered with the Mokume Gane method using translucent and gold clay with gold foil. There is no painting on this item, all the designs are made from different colored clay.
