H. dasyantha. I have been growing this now for 4 years...nary a bloom... This year all the plants are loaded with blooms, especially the one hanging outdoor under the eaves. H. dasyantha is from China, has clear sap a seems to be related to H. carnosa...I think the leaves are beautiful.... IML 1658
Oh my goodenss ... I love that dasyantha, and I really love that hybrid o x archie, and I Really, Really, Really love that IML 1423. Oh my goodness ... I swore to myself I was NOT going to make another wish list
Need to keep repeating to myself ... must downsize, must downsize, must downsize!

Did a bit of investigating.... H. dasyantha is from S. China and H. fungii is from Indochina (Vietnam)...both are similar but differ in the shape of the corona and the leaves, a bit. I have it growing in the bright light of the Greenhouse and the shade off the porch....and both give different colors to the leaves. Here is the leaf in the greenhouse:

and another of the flower. If you check flowers on H. fungii at http://www.bigislandgrowers.com/ghp/AHcompare.php notice how the outter tips of the corona tip UP on the H. fungii and they are quite flat on the dasyantha..... and, by the way, both have clear sap. I have seen H. fungii referred to as H. carnosa (Vietnam). Ooops, guess the link didn't work perfectly. Once you open the link, click on Photo Compendium and then click on H. fungii.
By the way...on that link, you can upload any picture you have to it in order to compare your picture to any photo available there. DH wrote the program and then got bored with it....that's why the choice is limited....
