All potted up and in the propagator Big Grin

They're all being rooted in little cups semi-hydro, as I go on holiday from this weekend. This allows a nice little water reservoir to keep them moist while I'm away! Otherwise I'd be panicking and wanting to come home Rolling on the floor laughing

Aaaah, a mini Hoya farm. Looking good. It should survive well.

By the way ,I went on vacation for 1 week, there was no rain during my absence except 5th day and temps were in 90s and my Hoyas are all outside except callistophylla, kanyakumariana and pachyclada. All did well and some even went on to bloom(had buds before I left). Ones that were not getting any rain(mentioned above),being in porch did well too. I was very happy that they put up with my absence so well.
I just watered all my plants well before leaving.

Hilarious! You're right there!!!

Thanks Mitzi - me too Big Grin

Dee - its a Bio Green Jumbo propagater, about 4-5 foot long and a high top to allow me
to overwinter some very tender babies. I've got lights above it to give them a bit more light as the greenhouse is heavily shaded.
Theres a very long heat mat underneath the trays.
See! all these darned-fangled gadgets we have to use in our awful climates Rolling on the floor laughing

Luck you guys that can find all the stuff for propagation, maybe due to our climate we are unable to find anything like that here!

Probably due to our tropical conditions............. never saw anything like this Bio Green Jumbo propagator here........... and this would be very interesting in the winter.....

I'm sure they will be nice and snug while I'm away - which is more than I can say for myself... The temperatures here have been mid 20's this week, due to halve before the end of the week with rain, rain and more rain...

We're off North of the border - camping no less. Temps in Scotland are usually 5-10 degrees cooler than down here. Taking wellies, waterproofs, loads of fleece and some woolly socks Rolling on the floor laughing

Who cares...it's still the first break I've had in 12 months, and I'm planning on sleeping a fair amount of it Whistling
Besides, I like the smell of wet dogs Big Grin

Hey Mitzi,

why don´t You bulid one by Yourself? Or, maybe, You´ve got a skilled friend who could build it for You? It´s not that difficult and sometimes it´s much cheaper and fitting more to Your wants than a mass product. For some issues You have just to think a littele "around the corner...", e.g. for heating you can use a heating cable from an aquarium and so on...just be creative!!!

Eventually you may get some suggestions in a Terraristic forum...

Daniel,

After google the words "Bio Green Jumbo propagater" to see what they are talking about, I really considered that I might produce the stuff by myself!!! LOL Although I don't have the skill for that! In fact in our climate, many things are not necessary due to our tropical weather, but in winter it should be of great assistance in rooting cuts! Thank you for your advice!

BTW Daniel is it easy to find/buy hoyas at Germany???? Just curious.

Have everybody a great weekend

Mitzi - when I first started out I used a Wet/Dry Heating pad (for humans)....I put it in a shallow tray (like a cookie sheet) made of metal and I covered it with coarse sand. I put the cuttings in pots IN TRAYs so that I could lift the tray out to water them. I kept the temp. at 73deg. (by trial and error I increased or decreased the level of the very coarse sand and my husband installed a temp. probe with a timer to shut it off when it got over 73. Worked out really well. I never had any danger from the electric heating pad!

We say it is "thinking outside the box"... Big Grin

Mitzi - you are so lucky - you live in 'propagator' temperatures/humidity Big Grin
Its only us bloody minded people in the frozen North that need such equipment to raise plants that are not indigenous (is that spelled correctly?!)

Hello Mitzi,

it´s not so difficult to get plants and cuttings here. I´m member of a german hoya forum and got there already a lot. Even so is Paul Shirley , for your american dimensions, just around the corner... and we have some traders here in germany, but I´ve not ordered from them yet ´cause I´m collecting since last fall and the loss of cuttings or plants from them would be too expensive. But time will come...

And then there are so many collectors in sweden... and Julie in the UK...:whistling:
and I´m on fb like you.

But my biggest problem is, neither Ted Green nor Carol are willing to ship to europe.... Sad and they are just the ones wich have my biggest wants...

Quoting:We say it is "thinking outside the box"...

I know, Carol, but I knew you´ll understand the german phrase too Big Grin

Yeah Julie, all this power consuming technical equipment makes Hoyas a bit more expensive hobby than in other regions...I guess Doug could tell us some stories.... Smiling

Daniel - who are the traders in Germany? I've not come across them yet - only Paul S in the Netherlands.

By the way - great match and result last night! Big Grin
