Hi, I grow Max tenuifolia in a pot, with Hydroton as the potting media. I know a lot of people use tree fern, but I seem to kill anything growing on or in tree fern. Here are a couple pics from last week, it has since opened more flowers, but it is raining outside, so can't take updated pictures. Although many people say it needs to grow warm in order to grow and bloom well, I leave it outside all winter down to freezing temps. It does fine for me. ![]() ![]()

Renee, that is an awesome Maxillaria. I am glad to learn that I can leave it out in cold. Mine gets a lot of afternoon sun and almost daily watering .Clay pot and mixed media. Orchid supply shop told me tree ferm fiber (not the plaques/basket) decomposes too quick in Florida, hence better not to use as part of potting mix. Thanks for helping me with the information and picture.

Thanks. Mj, I've had it about 4 - 5 years now. It really needs repotted soon though. My plan is to repot after it is done blooming. I'll take a piece off for you if you want.
