Seems like this one is sold only at Gardino nursery. Does it have another name ? Need growing information about it but nothing available except Gardino website. Anyone growing it?
Thanks.
Name: Carol Noel Hawaii (near Hilo) It's all about choices.
Never heard of it as 'Brown Tips'.... Brown tips where? Flower? Leaf? Can you post what it says at their website? That whole mob of acuta/verticillata/parasitica/amoena all grow very easily for me...very straightforward and no traps. I do grow mine fairly dry...meaning I let it dry out before watering it thoroughly....
(what will they come up with next....brown tips? sounds awful!!!)
Tips of the petals are brown as explained to me by staff from Gardino,at the Bromeliad show.I saw the blooming plant , my eyes were not strong enough to see brown. Blooms were not completely white though. I got one too, just out of curiosity and they were nicely scented ....... http://www.rareflora.com/hoyaverbrotips.html

Well...just know that any other verticillata/acuta/parasitica/amoena will probably bloom with more or less the same flower (give or take a brown tip or so....hahahaha) with the same fragrance so you don't have to go around collecting all of them.
Carol, that is good to know. Gardino also said that it is similar to parasitica. Their specimen plant had many clusters in bloom. Other thing is that when I was looking for a Hoya with parallel veins and nicely scented flowers, you made recommendation for amoena/verticillata/parasitica . So it met all these needs. I am happy now. And if it likes to get dry, that is even better.
Thanks for the guidance and help .
Agreed. I did not get the plant in question, but all the things I have received from Gardino's were big and healthy. Paula )and everyone there) have bren super-nice. They pack plants *really* well too. I will order from them again.
I don't like their soil mix though; it's too heavy for me. I repot pretty quickly.
For some reason I thought they were in California and was surprised to see they're actually in Florida. I'm just surprised that there is hardly any mention of them on the forums. I definitely will order again.
On another note, I placed an order with Bob Smoley 2 weeks ago (online) and received a letter yesterday (snail mail) that my order will be 6-8 weeks. I know he is slow because I don't think he has any help at his location but the hoyas I ordered are definitely not the rarest. Go figure!
I needed to pop in and say that Bob Smoley is full of surprises. His hoyas arrived this morning and I'm going to have to say that his hoyas are just as beautiful or more so and a lot of hoya plant. All in all, it probably took about 2 weeks.
