We went to the lease this past weekend and worked on the camp area. First though, we went for a ride and picked up the camera cards. We've been quite anxious to see what's happening at the other end of the number 2 spot.
We've got several coons, a couple of deer, and birds and squirrels. I didn't have any good still shots of the deer, but thought this was a neat photo of one of the coons.

My brother in law Robbin called us while we were in San Antonio over Easter. He said there had been a fire. We checked it out and it was a controlled burn that the Timer Company did. They dug trenches around an area and burned it. Trees are still standing and new grass shoots are coming up already. Those trenches sure made for some treacherous 4 wheel riding though. It was a pretty good size area they burned. Not too close to our hunting spots though. I can't help but wonder if Mr. Hog had been living in that area and was forced out by the fire.
This was taken at Number 1 spot on the 29th of March, deer and rabbit. We didn't see any deer after the Hog showed up either.
It is a big fawn. Perhaps an offspring of the big guy. Good candidate for a photo caption contest, don't you think? I am taking submissions for captions for this one.
This is the scene a few seconds later; I think the buck is on the left and the doe is slinking off.
passiflora, nice catch with the trail cam!
Whitetails normally breed in late fall here in Pa, late October early November an any doe that aren't bred then will cycle again in about four weeks later. The fawns are being born now here, May - early June some of the later ones in July.
Glad to see he's still around, he'll be a really beautiful buck this fall,.

We've got a few pregnant does on camera right now. I sure wish one of them would decide to drop the fawn on camera for us. That would be incredible to have videos of that. I'm not holding my breath though.
