Well... since it's been a long time between postings, I figured I'd bump this one up to a new thread, so we can discuss what we've been watching during the dog days of summer and what we're looking forward to as the new season begins for many shows. Got a favorite show? Have one you love to hate? Let us know! Ears perked up!

We came from here: http://cubits.org/MidAtlanticMusings/thread/view/64037

Perhaps because of the horribly hot weather this summer, I've been enjoying catching up on some of my favorite British series...

Downton Abbey Season 2 ~ the reality of "The Great War" hits home, both "upstairs" and "downstairs", and Dame Maggie Smith continues to have the Best. Lines. Ever! Looking forward to Season 3, but sorry to realize it won't air until January here in the US. Thumbs down

Doc Martin Season 5 ~ Doc & Louisa now have a baby in their lives, and all sorts of other changes come to the lovely seaside village of Port Wen. I have to admit that I did NOT like the title character when I first began watching this series, but after about 3 or 4 episodes, he begins to grow on you, or at least, annoy you less. I assume there will be a Season 6, but who knows when it will be available?

Have not seen either of those

Treme
Got this from the library because David Simon is involved, as are a few actors from The Wire (He wrote The Corner and Homicide, and went into TV with The Corner , The Wire- lots of realism/ real city life)

Treme takes place in New Orleans some months atfer Katrina. Good if you like real NewOrleans jaz, and stories around several diverse characters, some black, some white. Good acting but didn't really grab me

Well, Sally, IF you're remotely interested in British dramas & "dramedies", I'd highly recommend both, and you'd have lots to watch for a while!

Had heard of (read about) Treme (and didn't know how to pronounce it Hilarious! ). I hear you on the storyline.

Blinking Confused Toddlers in Tiaras Blinking Blinking Holy Carp - having a 2 1/2 year old GD, this just baffles, and actually, disgusts, me.

And have you heard about the new series featuring one of "them" Honey Boo Boo ????? WHAT has this world come to?!! Confused Confused Confused I'm all for the escapist fare on TV, but PLEASE... Let's hope this one gets canceled soon! Thumbs down

Yes, I think I saw Zuzu's post; I visit that Cubit every so often. I absolutely agree.

Thumbs down I fear that "Honey Boo Boo" will be seeing a THERAPIST before she's 13. Again, I have never seen the show (maybe it hasn't begun yet?), just a couple of commercials for it, and that's enough to let me know I do not want to waste my time watching it. Not one minute... Glare
