| My favorite of the two are the purple pinecone and the gold tipped branches You just love my command of the botanical language eh? I don't know if blue spruce will grow in your zone or not but I think they are beautiful. In OH, we had them all along the driveway but they don't grow here. In the hardwoods, maple and oak are my favorites. Of course there are lots of each of those too. Ornamental trees are nice too for their beautiful colors in the spring like dogwoods, red buds, etc. I don't envy you Dea, making that decision. Can't wait to see what you plant. vic |

| Dea, you have quite a challenge ahead of you, starting from scratch selecting your trees and plants! It took me several years just to finally pick out a few shrubs to put in front of our house, but we were fortunate in that our property is basically a cedar swamp, populated with not only cedar but spruce, hemlock, tamarack, junipers, white birch, and many other species. After living here for 20 years, only this spring did I notice that the new growth on the spruce had that red tip that you show so clearly in your photo -- it doesn't last long and I guess I never looked at just the right time!
