| The Army has a weird sense of humour for they sent some of us to Norway to the Arctic warfare school which was fun to start with as they taught us how to ski although it was cold. Then they taught us how to dig snow holes which are surprisingly comfortable and as usual the weather turned nasty. We were told down to minus 20 you can still fight, minus 30 think of surviving, minus 40 survive, minus 50 start to worry. Luckily we did have the right equipment but was that cold in fact so cold you don't use oil to lubricate your rifle as it freezes, so instead you get graphite powder. Then from there they sent us to Hong Kong which was incredibly hot and humid, slight difference to the minus 40s we were in. What fun we had with the help of the Army. Neil. + Phoenix. |

| My wonderful experience with camping was in a 17' camper, with no toilet, 2 burner propane stove, a sink which you had to pump the water and was unfit to drink, an ICE box, (you know the kind where you have to put blocks of real ice)' one electric light and one gas light. Then there were only 5 of us, the X, three little kids, myself and a miniature poodle. Talk about a three ring circus. The best trip is when we took a 10 day trip from Rochester, NY to S. Carolina, IN THE RAIN. FOR THE ENTIRE 10 DAYS. Then the other was when we had a trailer for our motorcycle and did tent camping with that. It was wonderful the night that we piled in after dark, pitched the tent only to find out that we were under a cherry tree with all the cherries on the ground. This just happened to be across the street from a Holiday Inn. Now do wonder why we divorced?? Of course there was another miner detail............... Whatever... | So are terriers when you need them especially the fox terrier I am training at the moment for someone. He is a lovely dog but a bit lively he will soon learn! He is only young yet and gets a bit excited about things, but that can be cured with training. He is doing well but it will need a lot more yet till he is up to standard. Regards. Neil. |

| HA! There's a reason that terrier and terror come from the same root! They are adorable though! Woman on the eastbound train ...........................................Je Suis Désolé. (also a mule lovin', Charley huggin' girl) |

| Having had cockers spaniels, I find terrier personality a bit zippy for me, My mother in law had Norwich terriers which were calmer than many. |

| Ha! Nancy! Their brains go faster than their bodies even! They are WAYYY so busy thinking about how to outsmart the human that they end up pretty good at it! I think THAT'S what makes them wiggle! | Dear Jamie and Nancy, we have lots of terriers over here! From the small Yorkshire terrier to Jack Russel's, then Norwich and Norfolk terriers then onto ones like Bedlingtons, Airedales, Kerry blues (from Ireland), and Staffordshire bull terriers plus many more. The thing is they are working dogs as they are hunters for that is their instinct! Many people but them as little puppies and think they will be great pets as they look cute when they are young, a terrier is not a pet it is a working dog and should be treated as such and they must know who the boss is or they will rule you. Luckily I have been with them all my life and I do not take any nonsense from them at all, for if you wish for a dog that will fight and give its life for you get a terrier and don't keep it as a pet! Neil. |

| Yikes, Neil. That almost sounds like many here in Flordia that raise and train pit bulls by killing little dogs like ours. Agreed they should not be pets. There has been an increase amount of attacks by these dogs on little children. The dogs have not been contained by their owners. But how do you tell that to a little child that has a face scarred for life, or worse, dead. That happens here. Here they have been in-bred to attack and kill. They are banned from Miami's county. I don't know what the answer is, but this training/in-breeding of innocent dogs has to stop. Agree? XXOO Nancy What would you attempt to do if you knew you would not fail? ~~Dr. Robert Schuller |

| Dear Nancy, I have no experience of American pit bulls at all. Over here they are under the dangerous dogs act by law and must be muzzled and on a lead if out on the street but they should not be in-bred or allowed to fight as that is illegal as well. Most terriers with training are meant for a job like border terriers who are very hardy to the cold and work up north on farms, and of course fox terriers who do what they are supposed to do and wipe out foxes. However if they are correctly trained which most of them are they are not aggressive towards people only the things they hunt like rats etc. The main problem is was showing dogs as they tried to get them to a standard for showing them which has spoiled a lot of breeds. I had an original English Jack Russel with long hair and she lived till she was 21 and was a diamond, now there is but 400 of them left which is very sad as they are fantastic animals. Over here if you have a pit bull and it kills another dog or cat they will put the animal down, although it is not the animals fault, for it is the owners fault. If you train them well they don't do that so I cannot understand why people do not do it, for I cannot stand untrained dogs or children! Neil. |
