I must confess my son took the picture. i wish i could capture things like that! every morning as i water the hummingbirds all dive in and out of the stream from the hose, sit on branches and take baths, come so close i could touch them. This is just so amazing to me.
We have a good many Hummers visiting our gardens and feeders but I never see them at our water features. They may be visiting them but I never see happen. I have one with a sprinkling can fountain that would be just the type for them to play in. What fun it must be to see them dancing in the water as you water your plants.
I think they do it because it is so hot and dry here and there is not much water. I have big kiddie pools set out all over so the wildlife will have a water source through the heat. In the evenings you can see Quail drinking, in the mornings its the hummers, all the other birds visit throughout the day. Even the ravens and crows are fun to watch. they bring peanuts from somewhere drop them in the water to soak, then crack them open and eat them. so interesting.

This hummer picture is wonderful, the bird with wet weathers, the droplets of water shining like diamonds, and all those soft pastel colors behind it. I'm really having fun with this one.
