We will try to keep them uncomplicated, but just throwing out some Ideas on what you can do. No plan is set in stone. We might even lower the number of items in the list or, allow everyone to chose-say 4or6 items in the list. We are swimming in unknown waters as we develop our ideas but we plan on staying afloat even if we have to throw some ideas off the boat.

Just thought of maybe having subjects like the Oddness(?) thing or the must unexpected or something on those lines. This one needs some thinking about.

I really need to find something to do to keep my mind busy Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

i like that 'concept' idea, Zany. One word themes would be so good:

Reflection
Body of Water
Spoon
Fear
Cold

Things like that.

And Margaret's right, too. Give us too many choices or too many assignments and we just don't have time for it. Keep it simple.

A smile can change a life..
Wren, I meant for the entrant to take a picture and submit it and next to it, the entrant's best guess crop of their original photo....does that make sense? That way, the use of cropping would be the point judged...and everyone could see the original and the result of each photo.

I like the idea of cropping as a contest. A good crop can really make the difference between a good shot and a great shot.

I agree If there are too many assignments or the requirements are too elaborate, it gets too much like homework.

Moon Now I get what you mean, to much rain and being trapped in this house with a crazy dog and the old brain does not work to well

I wont to keep everything fun.

Do y'all think we should return to the 2 week Contest? That way no one feels rushed to find their pictures. I also would like to keep the subjects as simple as possible.

Or we could post the announcement for the next month a few weeks earlier with a reminder just before they start.

Or as I said I should go find something to keep my mind busy. I am bored out of that said mind. Went outside for a bit but even my hill is to soggy to walk on.(more like a tiny bump that a hill.

I think I prefer a one week contest with 4 pictures to a 2-week contest with 8 pictures, but I don't have strong feelings either way. Whatever everyone agrees on.

I agree, eight pictures is too much. A one, two, or even a month long with a 4 entries limit seems better and easier to work with.

Maybe we will do the Scavenger hunt as a month long that would give everyone more time to find the items

Sharon...your "stuff" on the tree is cedar apple gaul rust...at least I *think* I have that right. We had it a few years ago after a rain and that was what wildlife service told me. I'll try to find that thread at DG if a non subscriber can still do that.

I'm fine with 4 photos per week or every 2 weeks, depending on what the majority goes with.

You are right, Gin. Found it here: http://lancaster.unl.edu/feature/guessjune07.shtml
Couldn't remember the name of it.

Four photos and one contest a week would be just fine.
We can choose to enter or not for that week.

Very good, Zany and I have been talking about letting everyone know by the middle of the month what the next months contest are.
Hopefully that way everyone will have time to find the subject or subjects for the next month.

Doing some research on cameras and picture taking and getting a headache.
There are a couple of features on my camera I am trying to figure out-stupid manual is STUPID. Grumbling Confused
I think my dog could write one that makes more sense.

Oh good Sharon...glad you found it as I couldn't find my old thread

BTW wren..you asked about our cameras. Mine is a canon EOS Rebel XS...also came with a long lens. I really need to check the lenses from my 35mm...if they are EF they will play nice with this one. I also have a FinePix S700. The LCD screen is fried on it. The SD card fit the canon, so the only time I use it now is for macro as it is built in. I REALLY want a macro lens for the canon. Maybe check pawn shops and trade the 35mm for a macro...???...would be nice.
