I just realized that the above pix has part of the wall in the master bedroom too. so you can kinda see the color schemes i'm trying to blend here...tho I dont think the rose color is going to work Sad

we were trying to match the tile and I'm not liking how its looking so far, but this is where we are cutting in the rose color.

There will be 2 huge mirrors on this wall. also light bars above both mirrors. My thought was to go with the darker color on that wall for an accent wall.

okay, thats all the pix right now Smiling

I should add that the decor for this bath and the master bedroom is Native American themed. for the bathroom I have native print towels and shower curtain that are tan and some other colors that will match the paint.

i didnt want a bland color in that bathroom for paint because I was tired of the washed out look it had. too much cream color tile everywhere! LOL!

ignore the kid in this pix Smiling but this is taken in the master bedroom. Master bedroom is painted in 3 different colors. the brick red on left of this pix, the walnut (peach) on right of this pix and then another lighter peach. all the decor is gold Oak and golds/reds/tans

I think when it's all said and done you will love it. The colors are pretty. And they seem to flow with the bedroom color also.

Is your husband going to build the cabinet doors? Or will you buy them premade?

He's making the cabinet doors and drawers himself. We have all the material here, just need the time and strength as he still works full time. I am hoping that they get done this year.

After we finish up this bathroom, the only other rooms left to do are the kitchen and dining rooms. Its taken a long time, so we are now finally seeing the light at the end LOL

It's easy to get discouraged when things don't move along as fast as we'd like them to. As long as the cabinets are functioning, give hubby a break and just live with them! Put a curtain over them if you don't like seeing the stuff inside.

Hubby and I talked about the pros and cons of him making the doors for the kitchen at our house. He tells me that he could make them. He has the know how. But here at the house, he doesn't have the work shop or the space to make them properly the way he wants to do them. He's got access to a shop, but it's about a 25 minute drive away. I'm sure that it's not easy getting the doors to fit, etc. Lots of taking it back out, again and again and again.

There are so many things going on in his head with this remodeling of the kitchen and the things on his to do list around here. I have no idea how much it will cost to have them built for us. He's got some good connections. He's already measured the openings. So now it's a matter of finding out cost, and then squirreling away the money to outright pay someone.

I am trying to be patient... but well its been years and years LOL. Although we were also busy putting in flooring at our cabin and doing finish work there as well... that project took us 3 yrs ugh! so now that its done...well, I'd really like to finish up this house. I thought about curtains....believe me! I did do the baskets last year, because I just couldnt stand it anymore!

DH has the room and all the tools etc, and he down right refuses to pay $$ for what he calls 'junk' from stores etc. basically if they aren't handmade by him...there wont be any cabinets. He said that making them himself is a lot cheaper than buying. He's probably right, and especially because we have most of the material here.... so I guess I'll just be patient and when he asks me what I want for my birthday in a few weeks... I'll tell him cabinets! Rolling on the floor laughing Whistling

There ya go!

I know my hubby would prefer to make them ourselves also, but with having no room and no plce to set up big tables for routing, etc.... well, he will get someone that he does work with to create them. I'd love to have glass in several doors to show off some dishes. But I sure wouldn't want glass in ALL of them. I think it looks very messy to have your mismatched stuff showing in the kitchen.

oh I agree about the miss matched and with kids here...always broken dishes and mismatched! LOL! I thought about glass or frosted doors in our 'linen closet' area in the bathroom. But it so really really expensive for glass, so I don't think it will happen.

I should add too...this is the house we plan to sell in a few years. so a lot of what we were originally planning has gone out the window. Now we are basically fixing it up for someone else, My experience with that is...they usually buy it and rip it all back out again. Grumbling

This means that all the plans to extend the kitchen etc have been tossed out the window and we're redrawing plans for that room now. Its just hard to not get carried away, knowing you're doing it for someone else, not yourself LOL

I hear ya. And am in the same boat. When we moved here 20 years ago it was a lovely neighborhood. Many retired folks. Things have changed drastically. The old folks have either died or gone on to nursing homes. School have busing programs so everyone can go to the "good" schools, which just makes them all mediocre! Don't get me started on politics. I know just enough to open my mouth and get myself in trouble.

Several years ago when we started talking about remodeling the kitchen, the idea was to get it done and move along to some place out in the country with some land where we couldn't spit on our neighbors or hear them arguing. Keeping this in mind, I still wanted the remodel to be nice because that will be a huge selling factor for this house. Provided we can find someone that wants to move to this neighborhood!

We're not in any hurry now to move though. This house is paid for. We thought about when we got done, renting it out to our kids to pay for the "new" house. Neither of them want to live in the neighborhood either! So.... knowing and seeing how folks around here leave places trashed when they move... we're not too keen on renting it out either now.

We're damned if we do and damned if we don't. One way or another though, we'll get through this house, room by room. We need to work on the family room we enclosed 15 years ago and remodel the bathroom and THEN we can get the heck outta Dodge!

LOL, yup definitely in the same boat here Sad and then the housing market took a dive and Grumbling I would be heartbroken if we put all the time and effort into remodeling for someone else...and then we were stuck here! that would really make me mad! if I have to live here, well then I'd want to do it my way ...with a bigger kitchen LOL

I can just hope that eventually the market will recover, we wont be upside down in the loan and we can get outta here LOL Both DH and I have wanted to move to WA for years now. He really needs to retire soon, so crossing our fingers that he can. I guess til then... I guess for now we'll just concentrate of painting the bath LOL

I think the colors are really nice; and will go well with the theme.
Like you and Janet, we pondered moving rather than remodeling. We've been here since '78, and at the height of the market the house with it's couple of acres was worth a tidy sum. But then we realized that by moving we'd have to go pretty far away to "get a deal" and leave the boys and gkids. So we've been re-modeling for a couple years now. I'm tired of the mess! But the end is in sight!.

Thanks, I guess it will take some getting used to. I also painted the living room last month, and well...its sitting there waiting for me to get used to the colors and do some decorating. I'll post that room in a new thread later today. maybe I can get more ideas on colors from you two! LOL! It just hasn't come to me yet...probably because the paint didnt turn out like I wanted

Okay paint is done and we just spent most of today looking for new mirrors and lights. I didn't realize how exhausting shopping could be! LOL! After going to several stores we settled on light bars from Lowe's and octagonal beveled mirrors. the mirrors are smaller than what we previously had, so this will take some getting used to! LOL

here is the paint
