I love hand made/hand quilted/hand pieced quilts. I have a collection of them from all the women in my family. One time someone told me she'd rather have a machine made quilt because they were stronger and longer lasting.
I showed her one that my grandmother had started in 1912 when she was 10 years old. It was all hand done and she finished it in 1915. I mentioned to her that it's a hundred years old now and seems to me that's quite an endurance record, proving the strength of those that are hand made. It's pretty thin and worn in places but still so beautiful. I don't use it anymore, but I do drape it over a corner of my bed just to remind me of her.
Those that are machine made are lovely too, but there's just something about all the love that goes into hand stitched quilts.
Good luck selling your mom's beauty! I hope you have several of your own that she made for you. They are real treasures.

Thank you Sharon!
I do have a couple that Mom made for me.
I have one that she made using all of Gramma's cotton dresses after she passed away. Another one she appliqued full of fall leaves because I love the Fall best of all.
I've been afraid to use them...but after reading your story of your 100 year old quilt still going strong, I'll be bringing them out right quickly now. Thank you for that!
The quilt is beautiful I wish my budget would stretch to purchase it but not even in my dreams can I afford such a work of art. I am sure there is someone out there who will be able to see what a great buy it is and give it a good home.
That is so beautiful!!!! The fact that it is ALL hand made would make it even more valuable to me. I personally think you are asking way too little for it. It's worth far more. Wish I could afford it now too.....
