Image Finding furniture for your pets
By Janet Colvin on June 3, 2010

I was driving home one day and saw a loveseat on the side of the road. I was by myself and knew that if I took the time to go get some help, the loveseat would be gone when I returned for it. I stopped the truck and examined it.

Not all those who wander are lost.
My best dog ever died 5 years ago, Meg was her name. I miss her daily and still expect to see her sitting by my side with her soulful eyes talking to me. It gets easier but never goes away.

Janet you are so good to your dogs. I've got 2 very spoiled ones, but no love seat for them, yet. As I sit at the computer both of them come in to lay close to me.

So sorry you lost your dog Boo, I know it hurts a lot since I've had to put down a couple over the years. I cried over my lost pets too, at least we know we gave them a special life.

Becky,

I'm so sorry you lost your dog. They are such a big part of our lives. As always, God knew exactly what He was doing when he created them. Nothing can ever take the place of a good dog. Wrapping you in a waybigo hug and wondering if you'd like a puppy. Tink is about to deliver any old day now. I thought she was going through menopause, and come to find out, a neighbor Chihuahua "did the deed" to poor little Tink. I always intended to get her spayed, but it never happened. Grace has had 2 litters of puppies and we had her spayed several years back. Tink stays inside most of the time. They do go out first thing in the morning and while they were doing their business, I was doing mine. When I came back out to call them in, the "deed" had already occurred. sigh I'm reminded of Sarah and Abraham (I think that was the old couple that had a child in their elder years.) I know Tink will be glad when she can get her "figure" back. Please keep Tink in your prayers. It could be any day now.

Janet,

Poor Tink. That happened to me when I was .in very early menopause (runs in my family) and I find I am pregnant. My surprise baby is almost 18 now. What a shocker to all of us but what a fun child to raise...she embraces life to the fullest!

Thanks for the offer but I am going to be dog-less for a season. I am a fan of medium sized dogs and really my heart belongs to Springers. My first awareness of a dog was my Dad's all black springer when I was a baby. And then 8 years ago we found our first springer. Someday I might be a rescue Mom but for now, it's important to me to just be dogless.

Thanks for the hugs...love you!

janet - you would love it in my area. every so often the town has a pick up of thngs people get rid of. the strees are filled with parked cars gong through what people are throwing out. there are even days when i just put something at the curb with no sign or anything and within a few hours its gone.

my dog rusty, a golden died more than 8 years ago. we have his ashes in a jar provided by the vet. my wife and i agreed that whomever dies first, the other will put the jar inside the coffin so they can be buried together.

Well it's been one long night here. Tink delivered the puppies. She had 4 in all, Only 1 survived. Labor started at about 2 am. Hillary was "on watch" and she came and woke me up. By the time I got in there, she'd had 2 puppies. One alive and one dead. She panted and panted and Hillary went on to bed. I stayed up until 5 am and she seemed to have settled back down. I slept in the recliner until 7 when I got up to make breakfast for Rick. He left for work at about 8 and I checked on Tink. She was back to panting. Her tummy was still fairly large. I watched as she pushed and pushed with nothing happening. I started massaging her tummy. I could see her little tootie spreading, but she was having a terrible time trying to push it out. Suddenly a little tail popped out, and then with a half a dozen more pushes, the third puppy came out, green and dead. Then about 10 minutes later, another one came out. Until that point, Tink hadn't uttered a single yelp. We've worrried about this birth because she's definitely a "wuss" dog, yelping if someone even looks at her the wrong way. With the last puppy, she cried out several times. I kept telling her to push and don't stop pushing, massaging her sides the whole time. This one was head first, but like the last, already dead.

I'm on my way to Goodwill to get some more blankets for her kennel. The furniture pad that was in there was ripped to shreds at some point and she'll be needing some clean bedding for some time to come.

Just wanted to update you all on the latest development. Photos later after I get new bedding in there.

Thanks Frank. I really appreciate that.

I have buried the puppies and the one left.... we'll keep until we can find a good home for it..... unless we get too attached.

Since I wrote that, I went to take a nap. When I got up, Connie and Cammie came by and Cammie wants the puppy. I'm so glad. That way I'll get to see her or him (not sure yet cuz I see no "parts") grow up. As of now, we're referring to the puppy as a her. Cammie fell in love. Did I mention that Cammie (for those that don't know) that Cammie is our niece and she lives in an apartment above Connie's house? Big Grin

Awwww baby animals are so cute. I have a friend who raised several littlers of mini schnauzers and so adorable. When we would go up to visit them I spent a lot of time with those babies. I have one of the first littler and I refer to her as my pot belly pig in a schnauzer suit. Right now I have to get her to the vet. I think she got a fox tail in her back tooth again, she did that last year. Then a much needed haircut and she will be beautiful again. My Samantha is now 4 years old and spoiled rotten. Lovey dubby

For a kennel, I use a Sterlite Tub with some cushions in front so she can get in and out easily. Ordinarily, Tink sleeps on one of our oldest sofas with a quilt over it. Last night, I walked into the room where she stays and she'd taken the puppy and gotten in her spot on the sofa. Needless to say, that isn't going to be acceptable. We're going to have to figure out a way to make sure she stays in the tub.

Puppy is getting a bit bigger. Of course, she doesn't have to fight for food, so that is a big bonus for him. We did finally see a little "part" to identify so we now know it's a him. Blinking
