This is the story of how a young teenager from England left her family and everything familiar, to travel across the Ocean with her new husband and take up residence in a strange land called Indiana. And now, after many decades of Americanization, I have met and become captivated by this charming lady. Her name is Doris Klene.
The conversation about Doris' Cabbage Patch Dolls prompted her to find some old photos she had of them. We thought you may be interested in seeing them.
These are arms and legs, waiting to be brought to life.
It's Noon on Sunday and I compiled a list of all you fine people who left comments on Doris' article. After assigning each of you a number, I asked Doris to choose "two" numbers. (Yes, she decided to give away two of her dolls!)
She chose 5 and 18, and those numbers belong to Rannveig and Seray. Congratulations, you two! Doris will be in touch with you soon!
Oh MY GOODNESS!!! Thank you both so much! It was a pleasure to read about your life Doris and this will make it part of mine. What a treat!
My mother would be delighted for me. She collected dolls and always talked about making them. I was such a tomboy growing up she had to play by herself. I'll think of my mom when I look at her and it will be doubly special.
That you Nap for the great article and being the 'middle man'.
