Hi Sally! If you must know, I am green with envy over your gardens! Now, that photo up there on the left, about half way down, the one with all the Irises .... What time of year was that taken? How many varieties of Irises do you have? Absolute perfection! Thanks for posting those. And thanks for being Sharon's guest today! I enjoyed your story very much! You seem like someone I'd like to get to know better! Good interview, Sharon!

Awww BP, I have happy tears from reading your story I'm always amazed as we read the spotlights, no matter where we were born and raised, we all have so much in common. We have lily pads in our water garden and from now on when I look at them, I will think of you I'm with you, nothing makes me happier than to be on my knees in the garden, getting my hands dirty. My grandma had two hand pumps. One in the wash room at the back door to wash up when you came in and another outside with a tin cup. I'm more of a pie baker than a cake baker and I will always choose to bake a pie when folks come rather than cake. Rhubarb is a favorite and strawberries with it are even better. I love to read too and there is always a book on my nightstand. I love, Love, LOVE your photo's and I'm with Nancy, your gardens are stunning! I always enjoy your photos and I haven't forgotten, I STILL owe you a picture. Better late than never, eh? Thank you for sharing your wonderful life with us and I can't wait to hear all about the twin grandbabies Thank you Sharon, for sharing Sally with the Cubits community! vic

Nap, thank you! The iris photo was last year in May and I have around 30. Some are Schreiners, a few were Mom's. Some I bought at nurseries or ordered from catalogs, but the rest came from a good friend who passed. She told me to come get flowers. She had cancer and died not long after. I waited till family got, and then I took a wagon up and took all I remembered from the walks around the yard when I stopped by to visit. The family who bought the house tore all of it out because they run a daycare. I have a chunk of her rose, planted way over 100 years ago now, by her husband's Aunts. They called it the Yellow Rose of Texas. Thanks again :o) Rann, thank you! The feeling is mutual. I enjoy the different things you have done in your yard too :o) Vicki, thanks! I love to find so much in common with so many people and I have to thank Dave for the oportunity to have so many wonderful friends. A small town has no secrets except itself

Sally I enjoyed your article so much. As Vicki said above, many of us have so much in common. Our childhood memories play such a big part in who we are. It's wonderful to think about the memories your grand children will have as adults, of their Grandma/Great Grandma. Your gardens are beautiful, I know if I was your neighbor, walking by them would bring me great joy. : )

Wow! Gorgeous gardens! I too have garden envy, lol! Loved reading about your childhood memories too! Love you Charley!

Sally & Sharran, Thank you so much for this wonderful spotlight on someone who truly does bring a ray of sunshine wherever she goes! Sally is one of the most caring and supportive people I've ever had the privilege to "meet". Thank heavens for the wonderful family that raised such a beautiful person. Sally, we are looking forward to lots of photos and stories of the twins.

Sally, the descriptions you gave of the flowers you grow, make your gardens even more beautiful! I had to go back and look at them again!
|

Sally, so nice to read your story. When you mentioned the tin cup...made me remember a few of the neighbors when I was growing up leaving a cup hanging by the outdoor hose for the mailman....why did that water taster better then "indoor" water? lol I really enjoyed the photos of your gardens...so green and lush with color!

Sally...it never fails, you ALWAYS make me laugh and cry at the same time; "I am happiest working in the flower beds. I say my best prayers then. Maybe it's because I'm already on my knees! " You are so dear! Thanks for sharing! Woman on the eastbound train ...........................................Je Suis Désolé. (also a mule lovin', Charley huggin' girl)

What an enjoyable interview! Your flowers are beautiful and it is obvious that you spend a lot of time out there on your knees! Weeding and praying just go together! Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most. More ramblings at http://thegatheringplacehome.myfastforum.org/forum54.php

Sally - Your gardens are fabulous! WOW! I am so impressed! You must be all green thumbs! Way to go! Another Day in Paradise!

Thanks! It sure was fun to write Sally's story. She's the only person I know who plants her gardens for others to see and enjoy. Most of us plant gardens for ourselves and our own enjoyment. But Sally plants for those who pass by her home. Somehow that really touched my heart.

Oh BP, When Sharran said "Sally, you've brought much sunshine into my life over the years with your words. I wish for you that same sunshine in your future. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us." I thought how terrific it is to have you in my life everyday! I too so identify with you. My life needs to get more closely tied to my roots. You reminded me of that. Thanks Sharran for this feature on Ms Sally BP! Sidney May the Warm Winds of Heaven Blow softly upon your house. May the Great Spirit Bless all who enter there. May your Moccasins Make Happy Tracks in many snows, and may the Rainbow Always touch your shoulder. Cherokee Prayer Blessing

Wondeful! I'm so glad to have read your story, BP. Your gardens are picture perfect!

For so many of us, "Home" was a transitional place that took on many different locations over the course of our lifetimes. For me, Home was never a constant but happily Family was and still is. I read about people who have lived in the same place for generations in awe! How comforting that must be and how wonderful it is of you to share that with us.

Thank you Lynn! If you stopped by to have a closer look, you would be offered anything I could divide :o) Thanks Sandi! I guess I'm getting there with all the plant moving and weeding I do :o) Stormyla, Thank you! I've learned a lot from you! I hope I never need to use it tho. I sure can't wait to see the twins myself :o) Awww Nap :o) Thanks Maridell, I'm loving the tin cup more and more. Smiling, these days, yoga for me consists of stretches, reaches, and slowly getting myself off the ground :o) Jamie, Thank you! That made me smile! You always make me smile, or crack up! Mary, Thank you! Praying is automatic now, and better than some thoughts I could have over the trash that blows into my yard :o) Becky, Thank you! I especially enjoyed ''all green thumbs.'' It took a long time to green all of them up :o) Thank you Sharon! I just know how I feel when I see a spot of color in someone else's yard. Sidney, Thank you! I wish the same for you in your new life. You are laying down the best roots now. I feel you are at peace with the world. Arlene, Thank you! Some pictures are more perfect than others and I hope to have a perfect picture every month. Brenda, Thanks! I feel that way about family past who have always lived here. I really do feel a bond and have no desire to ever move. I still know most of the people in town. My Dad and his friends are the old people now. I'm happy to see old friends and meet new. If I ever have time to get around I may see you on other threads. Thanks for making my day :o) A small town has no secrets except itself
