Over the last 30 years many who had previously used charcoal grills stepped away from them in favor of the gas grill for ease in use. Do you notice your meats missing something . . .a little boost of flavor that just isn’t there?

Time to strat thinking about getting the smoker out again! I have a question, our smokers does not seem to get as hot as it once did...does the heating element "go out" on these smokers? We have only had ours 3 or 4 years and only use it one or two times a year.

My dad had an electric one to make his deer sausage in. We have never used electric. Maybe someone will come along who has. Because our gas grill is falling apart, we are shopping for something new. We have friends who have the ceramic Green Egg and we are seriously considering it.

We have a Green Egg, and we really like the results. It takes a long time, though, so we don't use it as often as we'd like. A Saturday of doing working in the yard while smelling the food cooking is sheer bliss!

So the grill in the photos is gas?

I have thought about getting my husband a green egg but have wondered if they are worth the price. When you say it takes a long time do you mean longer than the other (electric and the like) grills?

No . . not gas . . first picture is the charcoal flame.

I do have a gas grill but I really need to replace it. The flame is good and powerful for searing but the rest of the thing is falling apart. Actually it rusted and the whole bottom fell off. During the winter I had raccoons crawl up inside it looking for food.
