One of my cubit members posted this story in my cubit's health forum, so I thought I would post it here. I heard on the news today that they have now found more communities and more brands affected.

I am very aware of that. Interesting that Iowa boasts Iowa Beef Packers and their beef comes from Canada. In our state we are interesting in buying and supporting the small people at Farmer's Markets.

Wright county, where this egg processing plant is, also has LewWright's meats. I butcher with them because all the beef they use is raised in Wright county. Excellent beef.

That used to be the case, but my BIL was a VP of IBP and I believe he was the person who told me they started getting their beef from Canada. I'd have to ask my sister about that.

Every supermarket around is tied it with purchase deals with IBP. If you go to Wright county and butcher you are assured your beef was raised right there.

I hope you have been to the Tea Party cubit and read about the Senate bill that is out there. Supposedly it would make it illegal for the little people to grow and raise food to sell. It would give all the power to big companies like Monsanto. Confused

Arlene, I will. I will also write to my cousins and see who is buying their beef now.

I'd sure like to know. I can't buy true prime rib here. They say it all goes to the big restaurants. I buy it at my favorite meat market in ca, freeze, and bring home in my suitcase. . . about once every three years.

I did butcher with Lew Wright's in Wright county about 5 years ago but the prime was not nice . . too fatty. All the rest of the meat was excellent, especially their hamburger.

Yes, we have Costco and Sam's Club in Des Moines, about 3 hours from here.

Costco usually has pretty decent rib roasts.

Unless it has changed recently (and I haven't looked at Costco for over a year), their not prime. They are a lesser grade. But I will check again next time I am near one. Thanks for the tip.

Arlene, I've seen prime filets and NY strips, but I'm not sure about the rib roasts.

Thanks
I'll look into that; we do love quality beef when we eat it.
