The freeze of 2009 left a lot of damage to our tender tropicals and trees, but the amaryllis really enjoyed it. The unusually cold temps had them thinking of nice, northern chills and their dormancy was very peaceable. We had a lot of offsets, and a good number of the crosses we made close to three years ago came into flower.

I made a number of Germa x cybister crosses, as well as some Germa x H.papillio (Doran) crosses as well around then, and they came into flower. Very happy with those crosses. I'll add them to the database soon, so you can see the outcomes.

Here's a nice Germa x cyb. Lima cross (AG)"Ashoka"

I have this theory that chocolate slows down the aging process.... It may not be true, but do I dare take the chance?

A Little Bit Of Paradise

I have a leafy refuge where big things happen in a small way. We grow and hybridize Brugmansia, Passiflora, Amaryllis and a host of other tropical plants and flowering vines. We also enjoy art, writing, music, creating video presentations and woodworking.
