The previous picture is Armeria caespitosa (aka A. juniperifolia). This is Armeria maritima.

I used to have that form myself but it died last winter...very strange as Armeria are pretty tough!

Hi Todd. So far this dark form has made it through one winter here, suddenly very cold in Dec (10 F) and then heavy rain most of the winter. It's planted in heavy clay soil with saw dust and rocks . So far so good.

You don't have to be a DG subscriber to see the articles. In fact, you can still get the weekly newsletter too.
