I'm starting a separate thread for discussions of "The Voice," so that they won't intrude on our Idol (idle?) talk.
I liked the first show. I felt sorry for the people who had to sing without seeing any of the chairs turn around, but they were at least given some encouragement at the end. No one was insulted or dismissed outright.
I really liked the first singer, whose name I don't remember, but I'm always a little wary of people who talk about their voices as a "gift from God." It reminds me of Jacob Lusk saying he wants to share his gift with the world. Just a little creepy, in my opinion. I think the black guy with the white parents was my favorite.
No, Javier is the one with the white wife, not white parents. He wore a hat. I liked the one with the big afro. I don't remember his name, but as soon as she saw him, Christina Aguilera was really upset that she hadn't turned her chair around and asked for a second chance. I think he and Javier both ended up on Adam's team.
I don't know when it's on again. I assumed it would be next Tuesday.
I missed it also..Glee was 90 min and when I went to look for Voice, I missed it at first since it's on a channel I never watch (don't know why). I only saw a brief glimpse. Sounds like it's worth watching, will have to make sure I catch it next....

Yep, you're right Zuzu, i got names mixed up. Tje Austin is who I thought I was talking about. Haven't had time to 'check it out' much today but he is all over you Tube and has his own website too: http://www.tjeaustin.com Read the Bio page...he's not exactly a newbie.

A lot of them have been in the business for a while. Frenchie Davis was on season 2 of American Idol and sang in "Rent" for four years and Javier Colon has performed duets with some fairly big stars. I wonder if anyone else from Idol will be among the contestants. It would be nice to see some of the old rejects that seemed too good to be rejected. There were even three or four this season that I'd like to see again: Kendra, Lauren Turner, Caleb, and another guy whose name escapes me.
They sit with their backs to the contestants so they won't be influenced by their appearance. If they spin around, it means they like the voice enough to want the person on their team. If more than one spins around, the contestant has to choose a team. If no one spins around, the person goes home.
Fortunately, the producers have weeded out the bad ones before the contestants are called back to do the TV show, so even the ones that have to go home have decent voices. No William Hungs on this show.
You are so sophisticated! I'll be watching Biggest Loser first, and it is my own regrettable tradition to eat Ben & Jerry's while I watch that show, so I'll probably just have coffee when I watch The Voice.
