How much should we rely on the research done by others before us? Can we take short-cuts in our own research by copying what others have done or should we start from scratch? Working out the answers to those questions is vital to producing an accurate Family Tree. No one wants to re-invent the wheel, but we do want our wheels to be round not square!!

Image London's East End to New Zealand, or What a Small World

Two branches of my family had lived and worked in the same part of London for years, literally streets apart, but never met. They both emigrated in 1874, on separate ships, and set up homes in different parts of New Zealand before finally meeting and uniting on the opposite side of the world.
