"Easter Iris"

With spring and Easter just around the corner, I decided to do Easter eggs. The egg outside the basket shows the petal image I started with. All the other eggs are derived from it. The basket is a free image I found on the Internet.

OK, I did a little wooden wall plaque. This has been sitting around forever so I used it for the challenge. I drew this free hand. It is so strange I feel like I have to learn how to use the brushes again. It isn`t quite like riding a bicycle. I will need to do some practicing. I think the plaque looks better in person. The camera is messing with the color making the purple look pinkish but it is very close to representing it correctly. I will try taking more pictures in better light and see what happens. Karen

I played around with a picture of it in the Picasa Picnic. I almost like this picture better.LOL!

I`m editing this post to show a better picture and the process I went through.

This is a better picture taken outside this morning. This is more like it.

Thanks Gourd,

I think this iris is begging for someone to try it in oils or watercolor. I thought about trying a second rendition but I`m unsure if life will allow me to because of other things I have to do. Maybe,I`ll try painting just a hour every evening to see how that goes. We watch TV after dinner for a little bit to relax. I`m thinking maybe I could paint during that time and listen in. Then I will have to bring in discipline to tear myself away from the painting so I can get enough sleep, not stay up too long and get it done in steps over days of time. Karen

It's all about choices.
I'ma workin' ladies.....

Attacking this one with watercolours...and worked today for a long long time...having a BLAST!!! Actually...I don't know where I am going with the background....but the Iris is shaping up...as usual, I am being a bit heavy handed and am trying to lighten it up....but I think I am finding my groove...today was thrilling. Here is how I left it today....Thumb of 2011-03-20/AlohaHoya/895ae9

The paint 'ran'....as I was drying it...and I think I'm going to make lemonade out of lemons and make it into a leaf....and use a razor for the white....either that, or finish it in acryllics...dunno. Not unhappy with what I am going so far....it's been 5 years since I painted watercolours!!!!!

I listened to Opera, and was joined by my kitties and my dog as I painted. The dog got bored...but the kitties stayed around and when we left...this was my view up the path....
