| Take a deep breath and get ready to laugh...this is a thread to show all our incredibly bad paintings and to share the stories that go with them. We all have horror stories...most of them quite funny once they've simmered for awhile. So....show us your Really Awful Paintings! We can also suggest ways to fix things if you dare.....After all, this is all in fun! |
| Lets see yours first. I should make an album of early paintings. I am self tought. The paper cutter has had a lot to do over the past 14 years. |
| Ahhhhh, gee, Jo Ann. I figured you'd say something like that. I'll have to start digging under the bed and behind cabinets, so give me a little time. I'll be back. |

| Good grief, Jo Ann...your not so hot paintings are incredible. I love the one with the cat. Love the others, too. Sheesh.... |
| Let me see if I can find the MGs.... Yuk |
| The cat painting story is good. My cat got into fight and the vet said he has a punctured urithera and I hope he lives thru the night. I was a poor artist and frantic at the thought I might loose him.I said I have a #200. dollar limit. The doc said Your waaay past that today, dont worry about it. I said thats easy for you to say. To make a long story short there were 2 months of surgeries that eventually removed his "johnson" and my mother died, and a month later the 5 page bill came. $3500.00 was crossed out in hilight pen and $350.00 was the balance due. I was so greatfull I gave the vet the painting of the cat posing next to my birthday flowers. |
| Oh goodness.....what a good story. I love happy endings, so how long did you have the cat? |
| He is still with me.He is 14 years old. He has a brother, both are tabbys and very smart and affectionate. |

Sharran wrote:Let me see if I can find the MGs.... Sharran, that isn't ugly!! My goodness, wait until you see a couple of mine. Very icky. I'll be back shortly to post them LOL Cissy San Jose |
| Get ready LOL! I have 3. This is I just thought oh god, what have I done? Look at those sharp points of land sticking out. ::covering eyes:: LOL Cissy San Jose |
| Second one...Supposed to be a stone type bridge over a stream. I couldn't paint the bridge right to save myself. My more I tried to correct it, the more it got muddled! Cissy San Jose |
| Now this one I really liked until I stood back and saw the lighthouse is.....is ...hmmm. soft looking and crooked! ARRGGHH. I worked on this for some time. I tried to straighten the lighthouse but I couldn't do it properly.I call this one "leaning tower of lighthouse" :D Cissy San Jose |
| Cissy, you are so funny. That first one should be called "Monster Tails" because they looked like giant tails of something crouched out of sight. But your bridge is nice, looks just like a stone bridge. Might be missing a detail or two but the shading beneath is very good. Leaning tower of lighthouse....LOL...but you have a nice sky and you have good cliffs....You can rework the sky to repair the leaning lighthouse, if you ever want to do that, How fun!!! You are not nearly as bad as you led me to believe. But you do make me laugh with your words. I need to crawl around and see what else I can find...just be patient, I'm still trying to keep up with all my cubits right now...what was I thinking?? |
| I love the "Monster Tails" description LOL! I plan on doing that lighthouse painting all over again. I want to rise up the horizon so I have room to make deeper cliffs, less sky. I am afraid it won't turn out as good as this one (except the leaning lighthouse. LOL. You have a lot of Cubits stuff going on, Sharran. A full time job! I have more bad stuff. God, it's amazing how much I have ...sort of like practice paintings! LOL. Cissy San Jose |

| _/ ____/ To keep those 'tails' from looking like 'tails' maybe you could keep that bottom line of the land where it touches the water, keep it parallel to the bottom of your paper or canvas. I am using my Mac right now, and don't have a paint program that is worth a nickel on it, but maybe the squigglies above will show you what I mean. See how the bottom lines are parallel to the bottom of this post? It's a good way to start, *edited because the squiggles mad no sense at all. |
| That's a great idea. Tails are not parallels but land masses should be! Thanks for the idea, Sharran! Cissy San Jose |
| Duh. That did not post the way I meant for it to post. It looks pretty ignorant up there. Oh well, maybe you got the point afterall. Yes, the land will mostly look parallel to the horizon or the bottom of the page as it sits in water. You got it. |
| It was so frustrating to see what I wanted to paint and not be able to translate it to paper because I didnt have enough skill. Time and persistance will make a big difference. |
