Congrats!
I have gained about half that just from not getting outside to pull weeds and clear brush, but not reducing my calorie intake accordingly. I gotta get back on the wagon. You just helped inspire me, Sandy, thanks!
I was finally able to get back on the bike, Dieting does not work for me. Plus all the sweating when I am watering the plants might have some part in it. But it was great news and I really needed some.
Keep your fingers crossed that we are going to get some rain. I heard thunder but the last 3 storms have gone around us and we did not get any of it.
Interesting article, Renee, but it sounds a bit fraud-ish to me. With all the attention including welfare and food stamps that have been doled out in eastern Kentucky for all of my life, how could they have been missed? It's like they would have had to be living in a cave and never coming out, but with all the mining going on, even the caves have had attention.
Starting in the 60's national attention was focused on east KY. Spiders didn't move without a photographer pouncing. Most every rock was turned, kicked and photographed. So where were they?
Laurel County and Madison County are not as far into the mountains as I was, but still unlikely since both have large cities in their vicinity. People just can't hide for very long. There's probably more to the story than is being told.
More beautiful pictures, Wren! Sharon, I don't know what to do about where to go to see and visit with my internet friends. I'm now at the point where I'm not sure where to go, cubits or all things plants, or DG... sometimes I'm not sure anymore who is where... I'd like us all to be in one place, like the old days of DG. I often limit my time on the computer, so I might get to one site and not to the others. Anyone else having this problem? I am liking the new ATP site...
I am spending most of my time at ATP because I edit the articles and work with the writers there. I come here because this is my social life here in Blue Gardens. I can't spend as much time here now because I'm so busy but this is where I come to relax and visit. I don't go to DG unless they rerun one of my old articles, which they do about once a week, so I go there to answer comments on them, but I don't linger.
My choice is just as I said, but if I had to choose just one of them, I'd gather all of you up with me and take you and Blue Gardens to ATP. It's going to be THE place to be very soon.
But I love cubits too, because it belongs to us and it's ours to do with as we want. When things calm down and writers are trained and articles are topnotch and daily, then I'll have more time to be here. It's easy enough to go back and forth. If I start missing anybody here, it's for sure I'll come looking for you.
Yes, Brenda, I was just thinking how tough it has gotten to keep up with all the sites. ATP is in its infancy ... a lot of excitement. It is looking very good and is very active! I am having a time just keeping up with the two forums I frequent the most there.
We got less than a half an inch of rain but at least it was something. It has been so long I was concerned it might have forgotten how. I hardly recognized that wet stuff falling from the sky! Won't have to water today anyway. More is predicted and I hope we get a good soaker.
Farmers' Market day ... and breakfast with a friend. Then the handyman is coming. Looks like today is full. I'd better get a wiggle on.
Ya'll enjoy the day!
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

Brenda,
Brenda,
I seldom post here, but I always keep up with this thread., always have , as I did on DG.
So many times I end up feeling disloyal to the same three sites, and I wondered if I was the only one. It is definitely hard to keep up, and I'm not ready to give any of them up, yet.
What to do, what to do....
I was excited to see a damp driveway when I got up this morning, but the rain gauge says only .01 inch. sigh. We are so dry and crispy, rain just can't seem to find us.
Carry on Blue Garden Friends, and I'll pop in from time to time. The Black and Blue salvia will soon be photo-worthy, so I'll have some blue to share.
I do all three. I find the irises are newbies wanting information on DG. More experienced here & ATP still not really set to be able to find my catagories easily. I really like working on cubits. NE gardening on DG still a batch of old friends.
Oh rain!!!! It is raining buckets and buckets, heavy hard rain. The trees are all lifting up their droopy limbs, waving like children in a classroom wanting attention: Me Me Me, rain on me!!
I can almost hear them shouting.
I'd be right out there with them if it weren't for the occasional flash of lightning. What a gorgeous rain!
Was it only about 2 months ago that I was grumbling about all the flooding we had? Fickle, guess I'm just fickle.
Y'all have a real good day...I'm gonna be dancin' in th' rain.
I'd like to dance in the rain, only if there's no lightning...not that adventurous anymore, I guess.
I get all excited to see rain, not only for the plants' sakes, but because it makes it easier to pull the bazillion weeds we have.
