Winter is quiet. Only Blue Jays and Chick-a-dees. I love that morning, once a year, when you wake up and all of the birds are back. It's like they all arrived during the night...and you go outside, all groggy from sleep, one morning to a cacophony of sound.

Yes! Like that. Yesterday I worked all day in the yard, built a Garden Totem using an old bowling ball covered in stones. I had a supervisor all day long, and if you look closely you'll see his red breast gleaming in the sunshine. ![]()

Sharon, I really like the garden totem, and even before enlarging the picture, I saw that robin red-breast looking on! I love all the seasons, but I have to admit that spring is my favorite. The flowering trees, shrubs, and bulbs make my days. My weeping cherry tree is in full bloom right now. It only lasts a little less than a week, but I guess that is what makes it so special. The dogwood is just starting to open its buds. I noticed when I awoke from a nap yesterday, that it is perfectly framed in the sky-light at the end of the upstairs hallway - perfect view from my bed. I couldn't have placed it better if I had tried. I have the added bonus of commuting thru Washington DC and driving within 10 - 20 feet of the cherry blossoms around the tidal basin. They started peaking last Wed - Thu. When the wind picks up, the petals swirl all around the car and in thru the open windows. It is absolutely gorgeous. Thanks so much for the article - I hadn't realized that everything IS early this year! “Surely as cometh the Winter, I know There are Spring violets under the snow.” (Robert H. Newell)

Oh my, Terri, cherry blossoms in DC. I haven't seen them in years, but oh the memories. How beautiful I remember they are. Our dogwoods are in full bloom. Amazing. ![]() I've been outside all morning, not doing a thing, just sitting and looking and smelling the glorious scents. I really need to be weeding, but just absorbing it all is enough for today. So glad you are enjoying your spring too. You might enjoy the pictures here: http://allthingsplants.com/blogs/view/Sharon/ Thanks, Terri, so good to see you.

Sharon, I clicked on your blog - so much to see! I'll have to wait until later this evening to sit down and enjoy it - something to look forward to. I haven't ventured in to ATP very much yet, but the blog feature is a great idea. I need to make more time to get on the internet for more than an occasional check-in... “Surely as cometh the Winter, I know There are Spring violets under the snow.” (Robert H. Newell)

Well now that you have the link you can keep up with the blogs. It's a good place for me to keep dated photos, especially since things are blooming so early this year. Be well, T. And don't be a stranger!
