| Often the fog in the valley below us looks like a blanket. Sometimes it drifts up the hills as it warms, just before disappearing. Trees and buildings disappear, then reappear, all very silently. Fog is very peaceful. Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most. More ramblings at http://thegatheringplacehome.myfastforum.org/forum54.php |

| As always a wonderful memory enfolds...I can't say its mine, but my imagination pictures the scene...and I am sitting there reminiscing for days gone by. http://cubits.org http://cubits.org/gourds/ http://cubits.org/Diabetes/ http://cubits.org/DMEnterprises/store Tahlmorra lujhala mei wiccan (The fate of a man rests always within the hands of the gods) |

| It was a memory, but it was woven through the branches of my smoke tree which is alive and well just off my deck, reminding me now of fog outlining its edges. And fog is very very peaceful, quiet, beautiful, too. I just don't see it often enough. I worked outside all day after writing this. I decided this beautiful day needed me right out in the middle of it. Now, sore muscles, filthy dirty, but still content, it's nice to come in to your comments. Thank you. |

| "No, dew comes from heaven, to wash the plants' faces; this is fog, it comes from the earth to give them a drink." I'm keeping this quote forever - It's a treasure - didn't even need to hear that scientific stuff - puh! Heart touching story Sharon, like all of yours are, thank you We get lots of fog here in the mountains and had 36 hours of gentle rain this week. Ok, 35 with 1 hour being a gulley washer. I love fog if I don't have to drive in it. |

| What a pretty piece of writing, with pretty pictures, too! We get thick fog that makes it scary driving to work in the early mornings sometimes. There have been days when it's that thick halfway to work. That's when you can't even see the river beneath the bridge. |
| I try to never see the river beneath any bridge I find myself on, KY. Whew! I'm just tall enough from the ground to be comfortable. Bridges mostly frighten me. But thanks for reading the article. Stay safe in the fog!! |

| Herbie, did you take your beautiful Deb to that amazing hair salon today?? I hope she knows how lucky she is. I have my grandson for the weekend. We made clay things today, how fun! He's really growing up and will be 8 in July. Fun little person, though not so little. He's already up to my shoulder and we wear the same size shoes. Bet you remember when he was tiny, don't you? ![]() |

| Sharon, as usual I loved your foggy article! Frank, I've got to tell you, I love the line, "I'm so old that when I was born the Dead Sea wasn't even sick." It gave us a hearty laugh this morning. Sharon, I guess you know, that your fog, has brought back more memories of Grandpa's mining claim. The cabin sat on a hillside that faced south and to the SW the canyon fell into the Pacific Ocean after crossing under California's Highway 1. Just as the sun had began to drop below the horizon the fog would begin to form. It would creep up the canyon very slowly, like pulling up a feather comforter. I never knew where it went, because in the early morning light, it would be gone, back to sea. Thank you so much dear friend, how I enjoy your truly heartwarming stories. |

| Hi Donna, I thought this might stir up some memories for you. I can't imagine fog from the ocean, but I'll bet it was mysterious and lovely. I love your description: "like pulling up a feather comforter." Now that stirs my memories. Soft. Silent. I don't see much fog here, a little too dry, I guess. But a friend from the mountains had mentioned seeing fog in a recent email and it made me realize how much I missed it in the early morning. My smoke tree was a poor substitute, but still a reminder. Thanks for reading and also thanks so much for your comment! I hope spring has crept into your world bringing delightful things. |

| Ah yes! Spring has come, along with forest fires, three or four which are burning in the Arizona forests once more. Trees and fog, now that starts another memory. A couple of years ago, just as spring was nearing here in Arizona, our Alligator Junipers went into bloom. Now most people think of junipers as smaller, low growing ground covering Tams. But here in the National Forest, we have twenty-five to thirty foot monsters. The Alligators are called that because of the character of their bark. Anyway, that spring, the trees were in full bloom, and one morning I looked out the window, and could not see the dirt road less than a hundred feet away. The first thought was that we had another forest fire and it was CLOSE! Second thought was that the "Flatlanders" were up with their ATVs tearing up the roads again! BUT, as we stepped out the front door, we discovered that it was the Juniper pollen in the air. I am not exaggerating, we could not see the cabin across the street! But the good news is, this spring wasn't bad at all. Thanks again Lady! This big Juniper is Max. Yeah, I named our tree, told you I'm strange! ![]() |
| Oh wow!! What a gorgeous tree. Never thought about pollen from a juniper, though. Wow again! Oh, doesn't everybody name trees?? |
| I never knew they got that big! Thanks for the info and pics, Donna. Sharon, I thought of you this morning as I drove to work. There was fog on the hilltops, and if I'd had time and a place to pull over, I would've taken a picture for you. Maybe soon. |
