These love shaded/early morning sun in damp/moist soils. They are more or less 'annual' perrenials here in my gardens, growing from roots under the soil & rich mulch each Spring to flower in Summer.
I have lost the name of this variety, but love the pale blue outer colour deepening to almost a violet towards the centre .. and the veining is wonderful. An artwork on it's own!

I never thought they'd grow here, it being so cold in winter, as I thought they liked areas much warmer & wetter etc .. so glad they did1 I have lost one v. though when it was too dry here & we were restricted in our watering with low dam levels. :(
