Bug Pics & ID forum: Can anyone ID this bug?

I think this is the same bug I was watching on one of my plants. They started off very small, and sort of coral and white, like a shrimp. I thought they were very cute until they got bigger and turned black, then they looked a little more scary!
They never bothered the plant and eventually disappeared, but I found this guy off the path in our woods and I think it is the same thing.

It's a nymph of an assassin bug so it will be eating other bugs. Acanthocephala terminalis looks like the one ..
