finding joy one day at a time!
My name is Boo (aka Becky) and I am a Christmas Elf.

Did YOU know we have our very own resident Santa here? It's true and I am sure you'll be hearing more from him now that he made his residence here. You can meet him here:
http://cubits.org/christmas/forums/view/shareyourloveofchris...

My Mom used to call herself Mrs. Santa and we 4 kids were her elves. She loved Christmas but had rules that no decorations could go up before December 11th. Crazy, huh? I start decorating the day after Thanksgiving for 2 to 3 days!

When my kids were young and at home, I admit my decorating was way over the top and I tried to compete with Macy's. My life is much more simple now as I am an almost empty nester, in a much smaller home and I've given many of my decorations to my children for their own homes. But the love of Christmas, of celebrating the birth of Jesus remains alive in my heart and I am excited to begin this cubit where we can share and learn from one anothers traditions, themes and crafts.

Please c-mail me if you'd like me to create a special forum for you. I want this to be your place as much as mine. I look forward to meeting you and hope you'll share your love of Christmas with us too.

I do not make any money from sending you to the Christmas web sites I find unless it happens to be my own ornaments or decor in another cubit. I am simply spreading the love and joy of Christmas in this cubit.

Linda, Please feel free to join in and post your own Christmas Crafts. I created this cubit last February and we haven't had a lot of activity yet but I imagine we will soon!

Hi Boo, Nice to meet you. I love your Christmas cubit and sure am anxious to see all the fun ideas coming soon.
Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year.
Each year since my kids are out and doing their own things and it is just DH and me, we pick a needy family in our neighborhood and we buy Christmas for the kids and try to also buy some food if they are having a hard time having enough to eat for the whole family. We decided a long time ago this was a good project to help kids who otherwise wouldn't have a great Christmas. Sometimes parents get layed off from work at the winter season, families broken up, or just have a very hard time making ends meet, sometimes we find a parent diagnosed with a terminal disease like cancer or something and didn't want those kids to have a bad Christmas and lose a parent at the same time and always remember the lousy Christmas they lost a parent, and we'd rather see those kids have a better Christmas. We can't change the circumstances of their lives, but we can bring a smile for one day, and that is a start. So they can have a good memory even if there are bad ones too.
Then, we do something nice ourselves later after the first of the year.

Hi Jan! Nice to meet you! I've seen your name around the cubits block! Big Grin

I love what you and your DH are doing. That is such a generous way to use your money. My DD and I were talking last night and we decided to forgo gifts to one another this year and help the homeless with blankets, socks and a care bag. This will be a fun year!

It sure is and knowing that someone less fortunate is having a special day just makes you feel all warm inside. You can even hang that family's name tag on your tree as a reminder of the gift you are giving to them. For instance, I give a name tag from me to DH with the name of the child or family on the tag. He gives me a tag with the name of the family he chose to do something for. We both get great joy and a big hug just thinking of them. Sometimes it is not the whole family, it's just the children. Sometimes we can't afford to do as much as we'd like, but anything will help. There is always someone if you look around, in need of some kind of help. And that is wonderful to do blankets and socks and such. That is awsome. So many out of work and some may get power turned off during the winter. You never know. Large pillar candles are good to for when the power goes off, you'd be surprised how it can put out light and a little heat in a room without any, and smells great too. And the large ones will burn a long time. You can make a care package (BOX) and fill it with canned food and loaf of bread and drop out at the home where someone lives in need, ring the bell or knock and leave it there for them to find. Nice playing Santa. Big Grin

When I can afford to do so, I donate coats, and clothes to the womens shelter here! There are always so many kids in the shelter at the Holiday times!

I am looking for someone to come along side of me to be a co-owner or administrators in I LOVE Christmas! I got too busy this year and failed to keep the momentum going in my own cubit. So SORRY!
