Hey, Julie. Me and my Furry Sidekick Welcome you to the cp forum. These little fellas
are growing. going to be interesting to see what they will do outside, if I can bare to put them out there. How is the cp baby doing that I sent you? Do you have it in a little bog yet?? It grows in a mixture of peat and spagnum moss, that is what these fellas are sitting in and don't forget the rainwater.

Hey Charleen....I had to tell you as soon as I could....talking to my youngest daughter tonight about the cobra lily you sent me.....it is a cobra lily isn't it? any ways she walks all over the 40 acres we have here and I was showing her a picture of what they look like in the summer........she says "Mom, some lady sent that to you? It's growing down at the rock wall creek." I said what?!?!?!?!?! She said that is why she wants to help build the bog so she can bring up the strange plants she has found down by the creek. I googled it and sure enough, those things grow here...........I never knew that....learn something new every day......Now I just have to wait until spring to go see where they are and maybe bring some more home. Isn't that so cool??

Charleen ~ Distress call, my niece has a CP. It was fine day before yesterday, today it looks like it has wilt or something. I have no knowledge of CPs. Help! Can't get a photo now, too dark, will send you one in am. She says she gives it bottled water.

If it wasn't distilled water, she may have done sme damage. do You have any rainwater or melted snow.????
Pull it out right away. Now!!!! Shake the water off. Set it back and maybe by the time you get the Correct water it may make it.
You'll have to get rid of peat in container and get new peat for replacement. But get THE PLANT OUT OF THAT WATER! I'm not yelling, just empahsizing to get the plant out of the bad water.
Good luck, girl.

I agree , your right, some if not most bottled water is spring water that has too many nutrients in it, it's gotta be distilled. Charleen is the peat every one says to use for CPs the same as what Home Depot sells as Canadian Peat moss? I understand that there is such a thing as living moss! Where you'd get that I wouldn't know. I think I'd have to soak the Canadian stuff, it's bone dry.

Spagnum moss will work. The canadian is fine, as long as it doesn't have any fertilzers in it. Water that is treated (city water) and fertilizer will burn them up. You have to soak it, the peat. Do you have any rainwater?

Okey Dokey, will do! ~ She said she has had it for 6 months, under the same care ritual, and never had any trouble with it. However, and this I did question, she now has it transplanted into a 64 oz. jar with no drainage and she has been capping the jar because someone told her it should have a humid environment. To me that's just asking for trouble.
I do have fresh peat here, and also melted snow. I keep a large container of rain water/melted snow inside for my houseplants and a large plastic garbage can full in the greenhouse.
Should we put it back in a shallow container since she had no problems with it before she transplanted it?
Oh, I forgot to add that its a VFT.

Oh Yea, yesterday morning I was complaining that I was out of rain water, The Lord must have heard me and sent a deluge last night. I'm good for a few weeks.

OMG Chelle, she has it on death row. Get it out of the jar and get it into a clay pot, hope it's not too late.

That's what I thought too, can't believe she's had it for 6 months!!!!! Do ya wonder if she's being entirely honest with us, here? I do.
Going to get the poor thing and see if it's savable, if it looks as bad in daylight as it did last night, it's probably not.
Thanks for both ya'lls' words of advice, I'll see what I can do...............

here is a quick how-to I found. I will find you another. There is a VFT listed. Got to go to Cobraplants site and get their link. That is Best one.
I would put it back in there for the time being.
Let me know what happens.
