We started here
http://cubits.org/craftycubit/thread/view/19640/
Now, here's Missy guarding my Magic butterfly making place.
The round trash can has her food. The long one , sitting in back is where I keep my concrete dry and handy. I'm left-handed and this works for me. We need basiaclly the same mater as for the Butterfly except we make a trip to hbby Lobby and get the face form we are going to use to make the girl. I'm using gems, mirrors and please get some clear glue, you will like it better than this whte stuff I got. It works, I just don't like it.
And away we go.......

I made the butterfly form yesterday, after finishing the other one. I put the wire in the concrete so I could hang her up.

This is the Face form that I use It was located over in the area where the clays and maybe candle molds are.
When making and filling SPRAY with the cooking oil to get cement to release. I fill the mold and usually sit it in a pan. to keep it level.

Get your little bit of concrete mixed up to fasten face to the butterfly. I have never glued it. I just cement it. Center the face on the butterfly and mark where you want it. Cement back of face or butterfly either way will work. Make the cement look like this. If it dries, you can add a drop or two of water to make it spread. After putting the cement down, take the face and fit it right on top and press down. Clean off around it. and you will be ready for next step.

Here she is befor the mosiac is applied, will do that here in little bit. I did go change it a little, but i think it is better.
I usually like to use reds and greens and I love all the bright colors. I love the mirrors too. Will go do the Mosiac and bring back finished photo.

We are getting there. Be sure the glue is dry mix a small amount of concrete a little thin, then add the cover over the stones. Go slowly. I still have accidents. but you learn as you go. Take a damp sponge and rub off the heavy concrete down to the gems. Take your time. Round the edges like you did you you mosiaced the butterfly. When you can see the gems and mirror peeking thru. I coverr mine with a wet cloth and wait. I know I don't like to wait either. But got to do it. You can go back out in about an hour to check and see how it's doing.

Fill the concrete butterfly mold and be sure it is dry enough to move around. The face mold has to be done the same way. Be sure to clean the between uses and let them dry, them spray with oil after it is DRY. I think you will enjoy your butterflygirls watchining over you in the garden. The finished one will be next.

Don't get tired. You should see my house. It is always a mess. But I love to make these creatures. Got to figure out how to mail it without it costing a lot and getting broke. Both are bad...

Her eyes are small purple gems, I painted her ips with acrylic paint. I went back out and redid them. I think they look better. I ned to get a soft brush to buff her off. Be sure to fill the butterfly mold ,so it won't break. I hope you find the face mold o.k. Still owe you all one more picture.

Our house is messy a lot but I can only stand that for so long...I think I really can't do anything unless it's somewhat in order...one more thing to slow me down.

Probably one more day. I had a problem. Wasn't going to say anything bt since you are waiting I may as well tell you. When I picked up the butterfly to re position her, thebutterfly part broke. The face is o.k. going to use it. Bit the butterfly, I didn't fill the mold full, thought I would save some time. Hmpmmm! Didn't work. Hope you all forgive me. Never can tell when something is going to happen. but it will be pretty. I know.

No, I think I made it to thin. haven't looked at it yet. Now would be a good time. it has been nearly 24 hrs. since I poured it....I'll be back..
It came out beautifully, but going to wait overnight to glue the face on and decorate the wings. Be patient we are almost there.
