Firstly...coffee good.

Spent all day yesterday doing some trimming and pulling weeds :( Am glad I did it but I was tired when I was done. DH is camping and hiking right now so it's been really nice to have some time alone....he is unemployed right now for the second time in a year and has been underfoot so badly. I won't be on much for a bit...I'll be enumerating! I start training for the census tomorrow...well, started last week technically, I'll be taking fingerprints of the folks in my class. I haven't worked in a long time and I really hope having this on my resume will be helpful in getting a job....employers see how long it's been since you worked and don't care about anything else.

I do have 3 new pendants I worked on last week! I hope to have them sealed and photographed today and I'll take a pic.

What's going on with everyone else?

Hi Lynn,

Sounds like you'll be pretty busy. We'll be looking forward to hearing how it goes. Can't wait to see your new pendants!!!

I'm doing a little woodworking, planting some plants that I had ordered, little of this, little of that.

Oh, that reminds me....I have seedlings going and cuttings started and more cuttings ot start (from trimming yesterday lol) I have a feeling this will end up like it always does...I get all these going then don't have time to keep them watered, fertilized, or uptransplanted and end up losing them, I hate that but I always do it. I feel more organized right now though, so I have high hopes!

What woodworking project are you working on Chris?

I'm working on another dragon - different pattern. This one is really a challenge! I also have to make a sign for a cabin one of these days.

I think you are extremely talented!! Thumbs up They are all really nice.

My new dragon only has 4 types of wood, but I'm using Western Red Cedar, which comes in a lot of shades.

Good luck with the census job, Lynn. Tony has been working for the census for quite a while now... he's a crew leader. He's been training his enumerators this week. Your pendants are very cool! Sorry to hear your DH is unemployed at the moment, so much stress. Wishing you well!

Thanks Brenda :) A lot of us are in the same boat, I know. We're trying to reinvent ourselves right now....figure out what path we might be able to follow out of all this. I'm glad to have the census to put on my resume, that's for sure!

The pendants are great.

I was out of work for 2 1/2 years and it was tough. I did a lot of crafts while I was off. It really kept me sane. (and people got great and creative gifts) Hilarious!

I am back working now for 2 years. I would not want to be job hunting now. Over 20% unemployed here. I am happy to be earning 1/2 of what I made and doing something I enjoy. I feel blessed.

Not as much time for crafts though.

DD lives in St Louis and has the "Mom can make anything" mentality. And yes, I will tackle most projects and a crocheted hat would be an easy one.

She sent me this picture. With the title..."can you make this?"

My reply, "sure, but WHY?"

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Those colors are not in the same rainbow!

I guess she wants black with a contrast color. I may be able to do that without my retinas burning. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

I am going to sit down on this rainy day and see what I can crochet up.

Rolling on the floor laughing You're such a great Mom! Maybe a pale purple with the black Whistling It really is a great looking hat if you wear hats.

I always remember there are those far worse off than we are right now, I can't imagine being out of work for 2 years and we just have to have faith Thumbs up

The design of that hat is very cute, even if the colors aren't!

Well, I worked on the hat today. She wanted black. So I crocheted it up and it went together easy. I had printed out the picture and it was pretty easy to match it.

DD said the pink/orange was a child size.

The nearest craft store is 45 miles away. So I headed to the dollar store thinking I could get some ribbon and flowers. WRONG! They usually have lots of bright ribbons. I did pick up a couple cheapy ones just to show what it will look like.

I will have to drive and get something nice instead.
