I am new to this site and wanted to share a few things I have been working on. This one is a concrete ball planter made out of a hypertuffa mix. So far I have had great luck with peat moss as a cheap way of working on things That I may at a later date create with a full weight concrete mix. I love some of the stuff I see people doing in concrete. Its a very forgiving medium.
Hi Doug, and welcome! Cool planter. Did you put a solid color tufa base on the ball first and then add a top layer, or did you coat the entire inside with a tufa layer after you removed the ball? Is the white also hypertufa? I bet its pretty heavy. Great idea for a base too. Is the base a separate piece?
I've found that there are many different kinds of peat moss and you have to watch what you get. I've already got some that was "stringy" and was basically unuseable. I've also seen some with lots of pieces of little sticks in it. What brand did you use?
Thanks for sharing and I hope to see more of your work too.
I appreciate all the nice comments. My life is a little messy and that hampers my time to dedicate to my art. Lately I have been building a website dedicated to what I am doing and how I do it. Its slow going, but fun to learn all this web stuff. When I get my how to done I will either link to it or repost it here. I need to find time to check out all the cool stuff other people are doing also. So much cool, so little time to look.
