FAQ: Questions about being a member at Cubits.org
There are a couple ways to do this. You can create a username directly on Cubits.org at our main signup page.
Alternatively, you can browse the cubits, find one you're interested in, and once inside the cubit click the big button on the right that says, "Signup and Join this cubit."
Either way, to signup you will need to choose what your username will be, and then enter your email address. The system will automatically create a password for you and mail you the login details.
Yes, but not by yourself. You can contact the Cubits.org admin team and ask to have your username changed.
Start having fun! Go browse the hundreds of cubits and find some that are interesting to you. When you found some that you like, click on the "Join this cubit" button on the right side of the page.
Each time you join a cubit, you can then always return to the main Cubits.org homepage and see all the cubits that you have joined.
You should also set your public profile so that when you make posts, others can see your avatar picture and learn about you through your informational signature lines, etc.
At the very top of every page on this site is a menu bar. Inside that bar, you can click on "Your account". From that page, you can change every aspect of your personal profile, including your email addresss and password.
At the top of the page, click on "Your Account". Then look over at the right-side of that page you will find a link that says "Set your public profile". So click that, and you can then enter your personal information.
Take note! Whatever you enter into your public profile will be displayed publicly, so keep that in mind as you enter in the details.
The forums (and some other areas) permit the members to make changes to the way the text appears. You can make your text bold, italic, underlined, and you can make clickable hyperlinks.
This is called "BB Code" and it is pretty standard across all forum sites around the internet.
How to use the BB code is explained on our BB Code tutorial page.
Take a look at our memberlist. On that page, you can browse for members by clicking on the letter that their username might start with.
So if you are looking for the user "Trish" just click on the letter T and you'll find the user.
To combat spam, I have updated the system to only allow you to send as many C-mails as you have days signed up.
Now, as for the c-mails, we have a limit and it works like this: you can send as many new C-mails based on how long you've been a member of cubits.org + 1.
So, if you've been a member for 1 day, you can initiate two new C-mails per 24 hour period.
If you've been a member for a week, when you can initiate 8 c-mails.
If you've been a member for more than 3 months, there is no limit.
This also only applies to initiating new C-mails. Everyone can reply to C-mails as much as they like with no limits..
Click on "Your account" at the top of this page. Then click on Preferences and from there you can enable the "watermark".
This feature is not retroactive; it only affects images uploaded after the preference is changed. The default setting is no watermark, and there are two watermarks from which to choose.
Yes, you can! On the top of the page, click on "Your account".
From there, click on "Preferences". There are many preferences that you may set, one of which is to see the smilies or not. Make your Cubits experience personalized any way you want it!
Yes there is! Go to the bottom of the home page. Click where it says "find new cubits". Scroll down to the bottom and there's a list of the most recently created cubits. Have fun!
